Hi guys,

My 2 outside exhaust tips on my 2015 zl1 are black after 200 miles and my two inside ones are almost shiny still from the last time I cleaned them. I thought that maybe it was because I was driving in comfort mode so I switched to sport and still no difference, the inside exhaust pipes stayed clean. Is there any way around this?

It's the NPP closing off the two inner exhaust tips.

Just pull the NPP fuse and problem solved.

Not necessarily.... I pulled my F8 fuse and the outside exhaust tips are still consistently dirtier than the inside

I think it's because the most direct exit for the exhaust is still straight out of the outside tips... No expert but seems logical

Yep, agree....I am constantly wiping out the exhaust tips and also have done the fuse pull.

Any downside to this fuse pull you guys talk about? does it affect warranty? is the difference in the exhaust noticeable?

No warranty issue as all the fuse pull does is keep the flaps open, which is a function that the system was designed to work with on acceleration.

Slight noise increase but not anything like an aftermarket exhaust system.

It won't affect warranty, just put the fuse back in if you are antsy when you visit the dealer. Being an Instrumentation Technologist, I can guess how they set it up (but don't know for sure). Technically, it is likely a solenoid that requires power to close. The controller looks at your RPM and cuts the power through the circuit and voilà it opens. That RPM is at idle or above somewhere around 3500. So, you remove the fuse, it cuts the power all the time, and voilà, it stays open.

and uh, yeah it's noticeable, in a good way IMO. Don't you think your hi zoot muscle car is a little quiet at 2000 RPM?

Yah I bought the exhaust cleaning kit from pinnacle comes with a bit for you drill for polishing and a small jar of pinnacle metal polish, stuff works fantastic.

I am going to look into the fuse pull and give it a shot on the days off and see how I like it.

I can almost guarantee you will keep the fuse out. If you still want the ability to close it there are a couple of different products out there that let you control it(open all time/closed all time/function like factory).

Highly recommend this... Pulled mine as soon as I got her home... These LSA's are supposed to be heard!!!
