If you really look at the responses to this topic you will see the COMMON theme that the C7 will not stay stock that long in most people's hands---and therein is the main problem with it. Hang on to your zl1 until BM RECOVERS its mind and figures out that 460hp don't get it done

What is with this "not enough hp not fast enough garbage"?
A base c7 for 51000 is going to run right next to a 57000 w/gg zl1... throw on the gs options and it'll wax it in corners too... im not afraid to admit its a better all around performer than my car, but uts not what Ive lusted after. same ought to be able to be said by a lot of zl1 owners...just man up and quit trying to knock it down.

The ZL1 is a very good car in the corners and the stingray is a step better. I may make the switch after the aftermarket gets some time to develop even better stingray parts. Now, I don't think a Z51 stingray could beat my modded ZL1 around a race track...maybe Tony Stewart could...maybe.

but the zl1 guys are making it sound like this base c7 is a dog...when its going to easily run neck and neck to 60 and be extremely close at a quarter mile...not to mention what the z51 is going to do to it around a road course...

From an acceleration standpoint this Vette is no faster than last years. The chief of design at GM seemed pretty annoyed when Jay Leno referred to the Stingray as a base model. Sadly, as beautiful a car as it is, it is a base model. The last base Vette saw a near 100 HP hike from the C5. I was hoping for something similar here. It seems they are clouding our vision with hi tech gadgetry.

ZL1 vs VETTE

AGREED WHEN UNCLE SAM FINALLY BUMPED ME TO 100% DISABILITY AFTER FIGHTING THEM THE LAST TIME FOR 7 YEARS I WENT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND A 2013 TRIPLE BLACK VERT AND PAID CASH. DID A FEW TWEAKS TO INCREASE THE HP/TQ AND AM ENJOYING IT. WOULD LIKE THE NEW VETTE BUT WILL WAIT TO SEE IF A Z06 SHOWS UP. LOVE THE MAG SUSPENSION AND SUPER CHARGER WITHOUT THE $125K PRICE OF THE ZR1.

I guess it seems like nothing new to me.
A LS1 Vette was no faster than a LS1 F Body A LS3 Vette is no faster than a ZL1 Now a base...because thats what it is (fancy stingray name aside) C7 doesnt beat a zl1 in straight line performance wise (which ive heard ad nauseum is a piss poor way to judge a car) but will eat it on a course (nurburgring or death!!) Isnt enough from a car that can bd had for less... I GUESS I DONT GET IT HOMIE...or something

The new Corvette would be the clear winner for me for numerous reasons. The ZL1 is a great machine, but it wouldn't even be a comparison between the two if I were car shopping. It is a better car is every way that matters to me, and this is coming from the mouth of a Camaro enthusiast for what it's worth.
