L99 Vs Mach1
Just picked up a 2010 Camaro SS and had to get out racing first thing. Well raced a buddy's Mach 1 a couple nights ago. mine is a bone stock L99 and his is a CAI, exhaust Mach 1. Both cars on street tires and autos.
First dig race we both spun (I was spinning a lot worse) and he put about 5 cars on me. Second dig race we both spun but not as bad, and he put about 2 cars on me from the start and just slowly widened the gap until he was 3-4 cars out. We did one 40 roll and I got him by about a car. All in all I wasn't very happy with the stock performance, but the first mods will be here soon. |

Aren't those Mach 1s 305 horsepower. My buddy with a 2011 raced one with a 200 shot. He didn't get beat that bad. Almost stock my L99 would lose to that 5.0 buy 2 or 3 cars. There is noway a stock mach 1 should beat you by 5 lengths.

Stock Mach 1s I think were mid-high 13 second cars. Not far off from the L99s which people love to hate on because of instances like this. No way he should've been able to win by 5 cars though... Let alone widen the gap in the second race. That doesn't sound right. I'd be disappointed as well, but it is what it is. We got heavy cars.

Something tells me that Mach was a touch more modded.
That sounds like something a full exhaust, cammed car would do. |

Sounds like the Mach1 may have a converter in it. A friend has one with a PI3200, off road x-pipe, cat back and tune and it runs 12.60-70. I think on 125 shot it runs around 11.60's @ 116.

The Mach has an off road x with flowmasters and a CAI. Spinning ain't winning and I was spinning. He spun too but not as bad as I did.

Yes I know the guy and the car the mods listed are the only mods he has. Now I had only had the car about 2 hours and the dealership I bought it from put 87 in it when they filled it up. Car will need the fues pull, not making an excuses he won fair and square, just trying to give you guys all the details.

Makes sense^. Get her ready and practice a few launches before the race. Things should be much different next time!

Mach 1's are strong cars. Mine had mufflers and 285/40/18 tires on 10.5" wheels on all four corners and I managed 13.2@108 with it. This was at Byron drag way and it was roughly 90-ish degrees out and it was a 5M car.

Still nowhere near 5 lengths on a l99. How many times did you run those times. I'm thinking fuse pull for sure. I've had bad gas before, I could tell right away. Sorry but I'm not giving a mach 1 that much credit.

I ran a 13.2 twice followed by a 13.3 @ 107-108. Mach 1's were underrated and many people put 300-310 RWHP down. My Mach was stout for a basically stock car with added weight and a 205LB driver.

5 lengths is insane. Unless he has full exhaust and tune I don't see it. Or the OP shut down early and the Mach kept going. Maybe 1-2 of that. Not 5 lengths
