Like they did with the Cobalt SS, they named the Super Charged model the Cobalt SS sc Perhaps this is what they will eventually do for the Camaro, the z28 name may be dead but it's soul will carry on in another form!?

I'm not sure I follow. The production model didn't get any narrower, they just widened the rear cabin to allow humans to fit in the back seat. This makes the hips seem less exagerated. In fact the Camaro is wider and lower than a mustang or challenger.

I was never considering a Camaro higher than the SS trim. My price range strictly ends at $30k.

The Z28 was never confirmed dead.
That statement (^) is true in regards to the speculated vehicle, AND the badge...don't get your panties in a bunch, just yet... |

As for the Z/28. From a marketing perspective it makes total sense to leave the Z/28 designation for the top Camaro. SS falls in line with the performance version for all other Chevy's. Z/28 is uniquely Camaro. Before gas shot up to $4.00/gallon and GM's stock fell to a 50+ year low we ALREADY knew that we would not see the top of line Camaro at release. If it makes sense GM will build it. If not, they won't. Real simple. I'm surprised no one has complained that we didn't see a vert yesterday. 422 hp is nothing to sneeze at. And let's not forget how well the LS3 responds to modifications. Personally I'd have no problem putting the price difference between a SS and a Z/28 (if one is to exist at some point) into the SS and go just as fast for less $. Hell I'll throw some old school Z/28 emblems on it for kicks. Time to step off the soap box. Thanks for listening. |

Just to reitterate, I don't think 420+ horse is anything to sneeze at I just want all the durability and reliability of a COMPLETE OEM engineered package. I won't be going to Ford though if there is no Z28, that's for sure.
