Did you dyno it before the upgrade? What does it run at the track?

He also said add 18% to it... so it would be about 500
So, he made these pulls on a drum style dyno, regardless of the brand, and then gives you flywheel HP, and tells you to add 18 percent for ....driveline loss????

First off, the dyno reads RWHP. There is no add this or subtract that in most all cases.... My car is an exception as we make pulls in 3rd gear rather than 4th (1:1). We do this due to wheel speeds, and then we do the conversion. We only do this for the gear conversion, not for driveline.

The next item is if he is telling you to add for the driveline then where is this 18% number coming from.... That's a very friendly automatic.

I would be asking more questions. That isn't bad but something doesn't seem quite right....

Something else to do is toss out the numbers others are making.... What is your baseline power before any work was done... A dyno is a tuning tool, and never has one made a pass... Heat is a killer... What octane fuel were you running. What was the timing at WOT. Was there any evidence of knock retard pulling timing... Were you possibly in the low octane tables.

There are a ton of things to consider..... I've just touched the surface... Consider that with a "hot" dyno bay, you netted roughly 100 RWHP over stock....I've seen L99 cars as low as 320 RWHP. You can't honestly compare your numbers to those of another car on a different dyno in a different part of the country. Question the tuner, ask specifically how "conservative" he was. WOT timing numbers? Evidence of knock retard, belt slippage and why the add on factor. What was the RWHP?

I wanna say I when I had a new cam put in with long tube headers and a rotofab air filter i had 471 hp. When I added the ECS @ 8lbs was 621hp. Then with methanol @ 12 lbs was 691hp.

Had mine installed by a local speed shop with a conservative tune. Had Dynosteve go through the tune and added alky meth to drop iat's made a ton of difference. Now with JRE smooth idle blower cam, meth, 80lb injectors, zl1 fuel pump, ecs 8lbs coming in at 683 on one dyno and 691 on another. On my second 6l80e as well ><;

If you on ur 2nd 6l80 u might want another tuner for the trans portion. Im higher than that and still on my 1st. Remove timing on shifts. If they removed all torque management or line pressure too high they screwed up

ok guys just talked to the tuner, he did a safe tune on it so i couldn't hurt the motor which is understandable an that i like. lol I'm not trying to blow up the motor... will be going to weapon x for their dyno nite sept 15, so hopefully it would be cool that night an see what it does. then ill be going back in on oct 4 for e85 conversion and also he said he'll turn it up some more. appreciate you helping me out and telling me what to ask although i didn't ask him over the phone id rather talk in person. once again thanks and ill let you know the results

Run it at the strip and see what it does. Report back with results.

I am running mine without the restrictor and it is 15lbs boost. Without upgraded fueling you are just asking for trouble. Instead you can open up the hole on the restrictor. It looks like a giant fender washer.

Tune was done at quick rev in dayton ohio... excellent shop acouple of my friends had their cars up there. Belts tight and i have a zl1 pump and 90lb injectors... new to the supercharger seen... drove the cars 3times and on the 4th time it started to pause/fell like it wants to cut off when trying to accelerate to pass a car not smashing on goes either. Then it started making back firing noises... link below

For comparison, my car is making 560whp at 7psi, through a stock 6L80. This was on a Mustang Dyno MD1100SE with SAE correction factor. I have a Huron Speed twin turbo kit, 62/65mm Oil less comp turbos, BTR TT Stage 2 cam, lowered compression ratio/forged bottom end, and straight 93 pump gas. I want you to consider what a bone stock L99 would make. Lets say, 320whp stock. You only gained 101whp from 9 pounds of boost, 11.2HP/psi. That is abysmally low, should easily be 500+whp.

I have a vortech at 8.5 lbs, long tubes, no cats, npp exhaust, and I’m putting down 605hp/510ft tq on a conservative tune. Sounds like your tuner needs more tuning school.

Honestly, you may not be far off. I hate to say it but Dyno Dynamics is really low. I installed a Procharger at 7.5 PSI and got less than 500HP. The key is to just use it for relative comparing. Dyno Dynamics answered me the following when I asked them about how they compare:
"A stock LS3 should be 300-320WHP on our dyno. With 7Psi it should be ~470-490WHP and with 15Psi it should be ~600WHP"
