2020 Mustang GT pp1 vs 2013 ZL1
First off I know this is a Camaro forum so I know I might get biased answers but I'll ask anyways.
Like the title says I'm torn between these 2 cars. Both the cars are M6. The ZL1 has 21k miles. The GT has 8k. If I buy the GT it'll be getting a procharger centri blower put on (I already bought the kit🤣😳 Both cars are priced within 2k of each other. I don't want to spend 6th gen ZL1 money right now otherwise it would be an easy choice So. What would you do and why? Neither car would be a daily. Just a fun weekend/date night car. No track duty. Just back road pulls and freeway shenanigans I've had a 2010 SS before and I currently have a C6 Corvette. |

If you own a Vette, how in the world could you consider playing for the "other" team???? I just threw up in my mouth thinking about it.....................

This is a question that shouldn't even be asked. The '13 ZL1 is one of better performing vehicles Chevrolet ever made for the average working guy. Plus it looks SO DAMN COOL! Modifying a Mustang is going to be nothing but tinkeritis headaches. Go buy that Z before somebody scoops it up!

My best bud, has a 1987 foxbody with a 2020 Mustang Coyote motor in it. He just threw on a VMP gen 3r supercharger on it... In my opinion, it was nothing but headaches. Just to keep the oil pump gear from grenading you have to pull the timing chains(plural) and replace the cast iron oiling gear with a forged gear. To remove the oil pump to replace the gear, he had to drop the oil pan. then he had to modify the fuel system with 2 Walboro 470lph pumps, just to keep up the fueling, and he is only running the 85mm pulley. You have to cut and grind bits off the aluminum timing covers to clear the pulley setup... Plus the positioning of the blower, requires you to remove the upper portion of the supercharger to replace 3 of the 4 spark plugs on the driver side. Seems like a total nightmare/headache to work on. I helped him throughout the build and i gotta say... It's a hard pass for me. I would take the ZL1 for its simplicity in modding. But yes, that is also a biased opinion.
Don't get me wrong, I think the new Mustangs are really nice looking cars. But they just aren't for me. After working on my buddies car, I would never buy one.

Of course everyone here is going to tell you the mustang is a POS, and anything 5th Gen related is king. Edit*** And…. we will be correct in doing so!

I assume the OP is going to be banned, for even suggesting such an idea. At minimum I assume he will be cancelled, for spreading false news and information. Like someone here would consider this...

I thought late model Mustangs were worth so much? How can a low mileage 2020 GT be within $2K of a ‘lowly’ 2013 Camaro with nearly triple the miles? The HP is similar too, no?

If your tracking the car the ZL1 is the way to go as you get coolers for everything including the diff.
The Mustang PP1does not have a diff cooler. C&D got a dash warning light after a few laps in the Stang. The other thing is the Camaro gets the TR 6060 trans and the Mustang gets some offshore garbage Getrag I would buy the ZL1 its built like a tank and was assembled with loving care by the CAW in Oshawa

Gen5 ZL1, or Gen6 SS 1LE.
Even the PP2 can't compete.

Surely this post is just a joke.
Right? The guy joined the site in 2014 and this is just now his first post? Odd. |
