Cool in the market for a 2012-2015 zl1

currently in the market for a 5th gen zl1,
i really never had any experience in the 5th gen camaros so they are new to me which ive never owned one before,
ive owned a a handfull of h/c/i camaros i was active on ls1tech before but i recently got married to my long time gf and purchased a house so i put the toys away for a bit a just daily drove a f150.
well earlier this month i was involved in a accident and the insurance totaled my truck out and now im in the market for a zl1 camaro or a cts v.

im going to go look at a few this week low mileage 15k-25k zl1
just wondering if there anything i should look for when im checking on out?

any input is appreciated

and sorry for the run on sentence using a iphone to post

Wet shoks are leaking and require replacement. They are expensive. $700 each or some big number you can google it.
Not much else to visual that comes to mind. If it has a cold air intake and the ground was messed with next to it, that might cause the electric power steering unit to fail. If the ground pin looks to have been moved or messed with I'd make sure it was done to a high quality ground connection to avoid future elec steering failure.
A stock 5th ZL1 is more reliable than many cars. A modd'ed ZL1 is ok if done by a knowledgeable person. Some people are so archaic they pound balancer pullies on with a big hammer or get a bad or no tune with the mods.

The '12s and 13's had a spring coupler in the supercharger snout. Bad engineering as the hard springs rubbed the softer shaft and made it loose and metal shavings. A sound like marbles rolling around a coffee can is the first symptom and eventual sc bearing failure. It has extended warranty for 10yrs 120k miles? It's not a matter of IF but when on those. The fix is a hard sold plastic-like replacement part that is $20 but takes hours to pull the sc apart to do it.

My ZL was my first and only 5th gen. Much different in feel than the previous generation(s). 5th gens are heavier and you feel more surrounded driving them. The ZL1's handling is outstanding, one of the best handling Camaros made.

My preference is the '14 and '15 due to the rear end treatment, available Recaro Sport Seats, and larger diameter back up screen. All ZL1 years are good so you won't go wrong. Definitely try to shop low mileage examples, as most ZLs should have very low to moderate mileage. Rock chipping, especially at the bumper and gills at the rear wheel openings are a common trait; Thus the lower mileage the better paint condition.

Good luck.
