Remember opinions are like @$$hole$, everybody has one.
Just sit back and relax and when the brochure comes out then we'll talk about it.
Why? We have to gossip about something thats what car guy/gals do. Even nerds do it. We get into heated disscussions and when the dust settles we have beers.

Stop that!

That anonymous source said it was the Z28...Remember? He said they were trying different pulleys on the LSA?

Also said the bad news is the weight would be over 4000lbs.

Anything could happen though.

We live for speculation. We're pretty darn good at it too.

We predicted all kinds of things very accurately.

Eh, this whole thing is sideways for me. I need a lighter Camaro LS with a tighter suspension and a small V-8 for 25K. Camaros were always a cheap buy-in making it possible for their primary supporters (young buyers) to obtain. Not sure where this is all going.

A semi automatic transmission would be a cool option.

Like a gun? Or like a paddleshifting automatic.

My bet is its either goning to be an LSA or LS7. There's no way gm will drop the flagship ls9 corvette engine in the camaro imo, at least I dont think so..... Both the LSA and LS7 Are generaly around the same price area also at $14,000 USD, while the LS9 is around 22 grand~ given the ls3 cost around 6-7 grand, these camaros will cost around the $40,000+ range. But also be aware of the competition with Ford and their 540 HP SC'd GT500. which will most likely lead to the 550 HP LSA(ford killer) as the main engine choice for the "z/28 or ZL1" or whatever they're going to call it.

But they could make a very limited edition ZL1 that came with the LS9 and cost 60-65k Collectors would flock.

I love all the rumors and excitement about the "z-28" or "yenko" or even a "ZL1", but GM won't do anything that would threaten corvette sales. so using an LS9? doubt it. would it be awesome? Yes it would!

I'm all for a LS7 with reduced weight, call it the ZL1 and only make a couple thousand of them. At least in the first year. don't do a Yenko unless the Yenko folks get involved. That was what was cool about the original Yenko Camaro's, the yenko folks where the ones who came up with that name, don't just slap it on and reduced weight camaro with a new engine.

GM took so long doing the Camaro right for it's grand return and looked what happened...they are kicking everyone right in the crotch. The Camaro was done right and they have to do a different model the same way. The car just has too much history in muscle car land.

Guys, GM has said this already. They don't have a problem stepping on the corvette where HP numbers are concerned. They did it with the CTSV for starters... They are different cars that sell to different market segments.

Putting the LS3 in a Camaro proves that they are too worried about it.... Base model Corevette is pretty close in performance to an SS... Corvette is better for sure but close enough to show that GM sees them as two different markets.

Just saying.

But that is a steel trunk lid vs aluminum hood. The biggest (and most important) gains would be on the front fenders.

Anyway, with all this talk of weight reduction I think it would be nice to see carbon fibre but it just doesn't have much benefit over fibreglass compared to its added cost. If you can save 100 lbs with fibreglass, you might save 120-130 lbs with CF yet it would cost around 50% more than the fibre glass. But thats getting into a discussion for another thread.

they will probably go with the LSA cuz it'll probably yield better fuel economy than the LS7 ....plus i hope GM can produce the Z/28 in away that it will avoid the gas guzzler tax, that would be a nice plus.

They've put the same engine's in the Corvette and Camaro since 1987, and back then the cars weighed about the same. The new Camaro will never outrun the Corvette, because of the weight difference now.

x2...not to mention you're not going to impact Corvette sales with a higher priced or even similar priced Z28. Just isn't going to happen...two different cars with differnet targets.
