BADA$$ SUBWOOFER INSTALL!!!!

Some of you may remember my noob thread, and my first car show trophy. I finally got my subwoofer done and installed. My setup is from Elemental Designs. This is the 13AV.2 Subwoofer and the nine.1 amp. If you've never heard of elemental designs go to youtube and type in 13av2 excursion test to see what this sub is capable of. Elemental built the box and faceplates. I cut out the punisher skulls and painted the box with textured paint(looks like carpet). Here are some photos!!
My Car

All done painting and ready to install in the car!

Another Angle, the hole drilled on the left side is for a toggle switch I installed for the remote wire. This way I didn't have to run a wire from the stereo or under the hood to the back of the car.

Finally, all bolted up and in the car, sounds awesome. I put some deadening in the trunk and there isn't a rattle anywhere!!

One more of my car, I stare at it constantly!!

Hope you enjoy!!!!

As a Home Theater enthusiast, Elemental Designs is very well regarded in the driver business and theater subwoofer business.

So I can only imagine that their car audio offerings are just as stellar. Nice custom work, though!

I don't really care about trunk space. The backseats make good storage since you cant fit people back there

looks ok, but the box looks small for the sub. Also is the area behind the skulls like a drug stash area lol jk

not my taste but good work on the skulls.

I am running some eD amps in my pickup right now, good stuff... so if they made subs like they make amps, that should freakin pound!

Something by Ben Milne highly regarded? Seriously? OMG, I think hell froze over, lol.

Good stuff maybe, but they have a history that includes poorly designed drivers, even worse customer service and an arrogant ass as an owner.

To the OP, good luck with the equipment. Nice install, however, looks good in trunk!

I heard/read a bunch of the same type of stuff (CS and Arrogant owner) before i picked up the amps... figured what the heck, the truck is kind-of a testing ground for gear so if it didnt work out I was going to replace them before too long anyway.

the CS I got was pretty decent all in all, so nothing to complain about there...

That's awesome! I remember some of the history on the amps, and the fact they were rebadged something or others, lol. Not bad something or others either, but Ben had nothing to do with their design, which could be a good thing.

I was left with a bad attitude towards them about 9 years ago, but won't get into it. I will say that if someone is happy with them, and has no complaints, then all is good!

No complaints here. In fact, I have been involved in several installs with Elemental Designs. At some point however, they will phase out car audio all together as their home theater has really taken off. They do order the amps in, but put together their own speakers and they do one off stuff for customers as well.

Nice job.

A small box is fine if its sealed. Also if you use extra insulation, as it makes

the woofer/sub react as if the box is larger. The problem with sealed boxes

is that they need double the watts as a properly tuned ported box for the

same dB level. But sealed boxes are more accurate and sound better. TOO

many cheap ported boxes/subs put out unreal bass. If I didn't mind taking up

my trunk I would built a 4 cu. ft. ported/bass reflex enclosure, but I am going

to design and build a small sealed box for 1 of my 12" Diamond subs tomorrow.

Just bought the harness that plugs directly into the Boston amp and has phono

outs and a amp turn-on lead wire. Awesome.
