I just finished installing a intake manifold heat shield from Pace Performance. Installation is simple. With the intake manifold removed and cleaned, the shield adheres to the bottom.

I did the same thing when I installed my cam, put a heat shield under the manifold. I notched out where each bolt head stuck up from the valley cover, but I probably didnt need to haha

Self made is how all us old school farts did it years ago. Not just the build either....we LITERALLY self-made our parts as they were not available or were too expensive for broke high school/college kids to afford.

You wouldn't believe the parts I was given by wealthy but non-mechanically inclined folks for doing engine build and installs/cam installs/rotating assembly installs.

That trick has been around awhile. Down there in New Orleans you understand our DFW brutal heat/humidity and it's negative effects on performance.

Notching the bolts? Those who don't build wisely, tend to replace expensive broken parts later. Thumbs up for thinking of what seriously bad juju COULD happen.

Coils and wires are totally unnecessary, unless there's an issue with the ones you already have. That BBK 95mm TB has been shown to be hit or miss on drive ability. More on the miss side. YMMV though.

Great thread OP...I can't believe I missed this..read the whole thing. It reminds me of a 383 stroker I built for my '69 Chev truck probably 24 years ago.
