500RWHP with a L99
Supercharger/turbocharger: 3-10k depending on if you get a discounted price/sponsorship. You get a warranty with some superchargers, but read all the fine print. Some superchargers are smog legal in CA. Bolt ons: Warranty is out the window, no question about it. Most likely lose gas mileage and car will sound much different than stock because of the cam (CHiPs might harass you). Won't pass smog in any sense, but might be possible in your budget. Depending on your circumstances, I would wait another couple months until you can afford either option and then you can pick which option you truly want and go in that direction with no regrets. |

Ported heads w/LS3 Conversion = $1600 - $2100
Ported Intake = $800 - $1200 Headers = $500 - $1100 You would need a couple of hours to swap the headers back to stock, but it could be possible. You can't get around the tune though. If the warranty is that important, wait. If not go for it. Cam = $600 -$1200 The right combo would put you over 500rwhp and not hurt driveability or durrability.

Its not gonna happen on an L99 Call Andy at adm or LPE and let them tell you. It would take a LS3 conversion with big cam and headers to net you in the mid 400's which would not be that big of a difference but 500rwhp is alot to ask for for a L99 with only 4k to spend and wanting to keep warranty. Your best bet would be to same your coin and get a TT or S/C setup that will net you that without headers and other mods like wipple or kenne bell. Maggie is going to take some pulley changing and supporting mods to get you there. Good Luck with it all though!

Also you might be getting a tax refund or is this the extra money? Currently I am saving for my TT setup that I will be doing hopefully around the spring. |

pretty much your only option is nitrous, because you will get your hp goals, you can take it off before going to the dealership and leave absolutely no trace that it was ever in your car.
and it is in your budget.

I have the A6 with headers, exhaust and CAI already installed. My car is in the shop right now and were looking for 500-550 RWHP this winter. The bill will be in the neighberhood of $15-16K (Canadian Dollars) for an LS3 conversion, TVS2300 S/C, cam, ported intake and ported throttle body, tune and dyno.
There's lots of other "stuff" that goes with the things your planning that will hundred dollar you to death. Boost and AFR gauges, drag radials and wheels just to mention a few. Good luck with your build.

It was not that long ago that my Camaro was bone stock and I naively started down the road of mods...be aware that with every power mod there are consequences. At the 500rwhp you speak of there are a lot of consequences....fuel injectors, differential, suspension that may need upgraded. None of these things are cheap. The car is engineered with componets to run where it's at. My headers and exhaust were about 2500 installing them myself. My edelbrock e-force supercharger professionally installed with a custom dyno tuned (needed for saftey due to things like elimating the knock retard in the canned tune) and some royal puple in the tranny was 10K. Sitting at about 515rwhp. Now looking at differential replacement, clutch/flywheel to handle the the torque, suspension upgrades to to handle the power. Also consider the block specs...you go too far and you may distort or damage the block. There is a reason why Hennessey swaps out of the LS3 once they go past 650 hp at the flywheel. All I'm saying is...if you start down this road it keeps on going and you can easily sink another 20K into this car to be bullet proof at 500 rwhp....on a lighter note, the power and sound is awesome!! haha!

All Kidding aside you will only reach 500 RWHP with a Supercharger on board or an LSX 454 Crate engine installed.
