They're both good cars, with a lot of performance for the money. Now, although there's a big difference between 304hp and 400+, you have you ask yourself how much of that extra horsepower you would actually use. The answer for me was "not much of it, most of the time." It just wasn't a good use of $7k for me.

Now about what some others have told you, it's not all about power as some want you to think. you need to also look at costs not normally attributed to just purchase. On the SS You need to consider Insurance of course will be more. Maintenance will be more, Brake pads and rotors will definately be more costly, and Tires will be very expensive for an SS. then there is the I got the power I gotta use it factor in getting speeding tickets, using more gas for using the power at stoplights... In the end do your research on ALL the factors, don't just look at one aspect of each car. weigh the pros and cons for your type driving and needs. remember the 1LT and 1SS have different levels of standard equipment also, and some options available on the 1LT are not on the 1SS such as the C&C package (which someone pointed out to me last night) To can't go wrong with either, but once your decision is made you cannot go "What if?"

Keep in mind that if I lived in a place where there are more open roads that weren't as crappy as here and I was 19 again I'd go fo the SS because of the power. |

+1 for if you have/want to spend the money. I could not see paying that much for any car.
Having said that (), if I had a spare ~$40k, I would have jumped on it! |
