texas speed cam drivability

to all my auto-zl1 boys out there that have the texas speed pd stage 3 cam. how does it drive? Is it like stock or does it have low speed bucking problems.
Looking for some advise. I want to get a cam after Christmas and install it in February or march.
thanks jeff

With a stage 3, I would def get a converter to control the cam surge. I have a stage 2 and it still surges and bucks a little bit at a stop.

I used the LS9 cam in my car [different car than the one I have now] and it sounded bad ass. Stock converter and no surging. If I was to do the car I have now that is what I would use again.

whats up bigtime your package should be to you tomorrow. the ls9 cam is too small for such a big job I think. I installed a 224-233 580 lift voodoo cam in my 83z28 700r4 car and It drove like stock. maybe its time to start converter shopping now. instead of a blower port.

Ok thank you. On the camshaft I had a set of stainless headers polished and ported heads and that cam. On the dyno it got me 811 hp at the motor and 726 rwhp. I guess if you want more but I will tell you that was enough for me. It was pretty scary with that.

I did the bt stage 3 with no issues and later put in a fti 3600 and it ran even better. You have to get a tuner who knows what he is doing and how you drive the car. I think there are a lot of tuners out there that are jumping on the craze. The guy I went to to get my cam done, who was just getting into tuning and could have easily done both sent me to someone who has been doing this stuff fir years and I couldn’t be happier.

my tuner Is very good. its mike from new era performance. he's done a lot of very fast cars, he's even been flown to Saudi Arabia to tune cars.

You can get away with a high lift cam on a stock converter if you increase your lobe separation angle to 117 or higher. I would check with Livernois on their 2C high lift cam. Also just as info a pd or root style blower makes more power with more LSA.
