Insurance

I expect my 2SS/RS to be delivered next week, so I
called my Ins agent [Allstate] to get a qoute,He said full
coverage would be 1300 a year.
He asked if I would be interested in classic car insurance,
I said it is not a classic yet but he said if you drive 3500
miles or less per year you would qualify.
I have a 1970 Monte Carlo insured through
Met Life at 179.00 a year, he said coverage on the Camaro would be 750.00
a year not through Allstate but through Haggerty classic car ins co.
payable semi annualy.
It's worth a try if you don't put on a lot of mileage, and
want to save some bucks for some goodies.
I have my home owners and regular coverage on my
01 Denali through the same agent

Your broker may be confusing your NEW 2010 Camaro with an OLD one, classic insurance is for vehicles who are older then 20 years

there is insurance for driving 7500 or less miles per year (pleasure vehicle driving) and it's normally cheaper I have both the Camaro and Vette on this and for both I pay 1800 annually

I gave him the vin # of the car even though I didn't take delivery yet,
and made sure he knew it was a 2010.
He got me the qoute in about 1/2 hour.
I drive my primary vehicle about 13k a year, and the classic about
2500 miles a year
the Camaro would be insured for 38,000 the Monte for 20,000
and the suv worthless

Hmm, I didn't know they would offer classic insurance on a new car if it is driven under certain mileage. I pay $380 every 6 months for my Camaro though and there isn't a mileage limit.

I have my '67 convertible insured through Hagerty's. I have it valued at 27k and pay a little over $200 a year for full coverage plus collision with $300 deductable. My insurance for the 2010 is through my regular car insurance (Traveler's) full coverage with $500 deductable on the collision, the premium is $650 per year. I wasn't aware that Hagerty's would insure the 2010, but it wouldn't work for me anyway as it's a daily driver and I put 20k plus miles a year on my daily driver.

I'm picking up my 2SS/RS tomorrow. Amica added this Camaro for and additional $851.00 a year. It's a 3rd car with 2 drivers, perfect records and homeowners ins with them, etc. This Camaro is a toy so I'm keeping my '06 Impala as a daily driver.

I pay $2,154 a year for full coverage on my 04 Impala and new Camaro which would be $179.50 a month but I pay it in full every 6 months when I receive my statement. I'm 33

mine is going to be 2,040 a year...but i'm 21 years old and actually that was good news for me because i used to drive an '05 mustang V6 and my rates have actually gone DOWN with a 426 hp V8 manual muscle car...hmmm go figure hahaha lol

i guess it does help that i have a 4.08 GPA in college and am a member of a few honor societies maybe that's why.... i was a little puzzled why my rates were going down but i'm not complaining! lol

I am an insurance agent in Chicago. Only $620 a yr. for excellent coverage! The key to low rates is a high credit score, no tickets or claims and a good low-risk zipcode to live in. It pays to shop around as there is NO insurance company with the lowest rates in all areas. I suggest a broker who deals with many large preferred companies compared to an agent who only sells with 1 company (State Farm, Allstate, Farmers Insurance). They are 1 trick ponies, because they only offer 1 company with 1 set of underwriting rules. Having multiple choices is better in a soft insurance market as well as a hard market. Believe me; been there, done that!

I shopped around a lot when we bought our house almost 2 yrs ago and nobody could touch State Farm. I then allowed them to do my car insurance, had GEICO previously. 05 Impala, 95 Oldsmobile, 07 Silverado, 07 Harley, 04 fifth wheel and now my 10 Camaro all full coverage is 290. a month.....I got my 99 SS at the age of 21 and insurance on it alone was $200 a month. Knock on wood, our driving records are clean now and I hope the Camaro doesn't ruin it lol! I know age has a lot to do with it also we are 29 & 30.

Just as a tip before anyone jumps on classic insurance for their Camaro, READ THE POLICY very carefully. The reason classic policies are so cheap is many times they have a lot of restrictions in addition to mileage. IE if you wreck your camaro at 5:15 PM on your route home from work you very likely could be SOL. If its parked at the movie theater and gets stolen, you may be SOL as well.

I sold insurance for years and this is a common misconception about classic policies. They really limit the useage you're allowed with the car, which is why the rates are so cheap.
