Exactly. Paining it body color makes it look like one fat assed Camaro.

Whether paint will adhere has nothing to do if it is smooth. If you wanted to keep the texture but have it body color it could be scuffed. All that matters is that there are micro scratches on the substrate that give the base something to bite into.
