Low mileage cars are going to be more expensive. Given that they're on the rise, and the supply is increasingly low for them, that doesn't help matters either. You can find them much cheaper but the trade off is going to be value, and naturally the wear and tear. The question you should be asking yourself is what are you looking for? A weekend car to cruise to the shows that needs nothing, a daily driver, or a project.

And as far as power goes on the TPI engines, the auto LB9's were rated at 195. The stick LB9's were rated at 215. The difference being the cam, as the stick cars used the same cam that the L98 350 did. The L98 is rated at 245 with about 50ft lbs more torque but only available post 1987. Some low-end IROC's also came with LG4's (carb 305) or L03's (TBI 305)

Wasn't the LB9 the 1985-87 top of the line engine & available only in automatic?

Scott, did you purchase an IROC-Z?!

no, the guy sold it faster than i thought he was going to be able to. i casually look around, just to see if one pops up that i can't refuse. but, i'm more interested in buying a house with a bigger garage at this point, as my neighborhood has gone down hill and i really want to get out of here. after i move, i'll get back to seriously looking for another IROC.

I'm in exactly the same situation. I expect to move by the end of the year.
