I would like to know from the Michigan trans plants here in Washington. Have any one been to the Detroit ( Woodward Dream Cruise ) dream cruise?

We haven't done it. I have a few FB friends heading there now. It looks like it is going to be fun!

When I lived there, all my cars were too rusted out to be anything worthy of a "dream cruise". A "dream on" cruise, maybe...

Detroit's not really that bad- nobody lives there anymore. It's a giant ghost town. I'd be more nervous in Kent.

I worked in the Detroit area for about 30 years and I am still walking. I am not saying it was a ok city to live in. I just stayed away from the bad areas like Livernois ave and Chene St. We had a saying if you wanted to get rid of your car just park it on Chene St. It will be gone by mourning.

I remember the sign at the Ohio border that said "Will the last person to leave Michigan please turn out the lights."

I wonder if they did? I know I didn't hit the switch on my way out.

When I started to work there the population was about 1.2 million. When the oil embargo started and the automaker moved the factories away from Mich the population started to decline. Detroit never got into a different market to replace the auto manufacturing. Detroit went down hill when drugs unemployment skyrocketed. Corrupt Mayors and Police was part of it to.
My father moved from Kentucky to Michigan for the work that was available there in 1954.

I saw that That why I was asking. Since there are a lot of military I thought some might have been the cruise. From 1995 to 2005 I never did go.
It started out for fund raiser for a soccer field for the kids They was expecting about 25000 to show up but instead 250000 showed up every year it got bigger and the cruise got longer.
I am from Monroe Mi when when I started to drive. We had apark and snack on each side of town about 3 miles apart. We would cruise from one end to the other every night.

Just so everyone knows we used to be located on Livernois.... No longer there. So if you ever have work done here by chance, no need to worry
