Tire Noise
I have to turn the volume on my up on my radio so loud to hear it over the road noise that it hurts my wife,s ears.Has anyone found a way to tune down the noise?

sound deadenr in the spare tire area... the trunk is a metal resonating chamber... Buy some cheap noico sound deadener from Amazon...
Take the back seat and rear plastic off... The hips of this car are bare metal, not much insulation. You can easily decrease road noise by 3db... If not 6db. Just by deadening the rear of the car.

Which tires are you using, and how is the wear pattern on them? Different tire models produce vastly different amounts of noise, if there is a weird wear pattern such as feathering that could add to the volume as well.
The only other tip I have is to ensure your doors and trunk seal well, you can check for seal tension with a dollar bill or by trying to blow smoke around the gaps. Any gap/misalignment of the seal seating areas can produce wind noise at speed. |
