Just like old times...

Not quite. I was invited to go TNT with an old buddy last night. I took my car just in case it was not busy, I could make a pass or two to feel her out from a dig. Never launching a manual car, I got two passes on both ends of the scale. 305/20 nitto 555r DR’s were ok after the 60’ but out of the hole were not enough. First pass was spin city, second pass I launched at 2000-2500 and damn near killed it off the line. Both Runs MPH are very promising. Practice, practice, practice. 1/8th mile is a bit short for this car imho. First run was 8.2 @ 99 and second was 8.3 @ 100. 60 ft was horrible at 2.5/2.6.

With your mods 20" drag radials are a waste of time.
Some 17" ET Street R Bias Ply would cut your 60' and ET a lot.

I wish I could get to 100mph in the 8th on my current mods, I'd break 7 seconds, currently @ 96 mph I'm at 7.10.

The 1/8 mile isn't so much about ET's as it is drag racing. Usually the driver who cuts the best light wins.

Yeah it was ugly. I used to race 1/8 and 1/4 all the time. This manual trans is a hole new world. 15” conversion would be nice but I am not looking to turn her into a drag car. 17’s and skinnies will have to do for these outings.

My personal best 1/8 was at Xtreme. Awesome prep there.

With a stick, you really should try Hoosier. Bias ply slicks. My best 1/8 on them was 7.2 before the trans swap.

I figure I have a good second of ground to make up with lots of practice. Looking at 17” M/T ET street R bias right now. I will look at the Hoosiers as well.

The Hoosiers would be a good choice if your towing your car to the strip. If your driving to and from, they aren't street legal.... the MT ET Street R's are street legal.

At your HP, if you hook, the stock axles are on borrowed time. Toe link and trailing arm upgrades needed as well, to minimize wheel hop.

Its already done. Only thing stock on the rear is the upper control arms and zl1 axles. I have no hop, just straight spin.

MT street R bias should fit the bill. Just need to find some 17" wheels for a good deal.

Round two. This time with M&H 325/45/17’s , head studs, and 15 psi around 7000. Still trying to break muscle memory with no lift shifts, and riding out the clutch. I bogged out of the hole on the 7.7 pass and missed a shift (1-2) on the 7.8 pass. I also got out of the second because there was a rain cloud that sprinkled the track. 105 mph should put me in the 6’s if I can line out the kinks. Hope to take her out 1/4 mile today or next weekend.

Nice MPH! Looks like you should be in the mid tens when you can launch that thing

I knew getting good track times would be a challenge, but it’s damn hard. Auto cars have it made. I have the highest respect for those who are on the fast list with a manual.

I went over my logs last night and got one good no lift shift in on the first run. If I could ride the clutch out and keep rpm up off the line, it should 60 ft nicely. Then NLS every gear and shift at 6900. It’s a lot of work. I am also pushing 150* IAT at the end of the run. I am thinking about going to a 100 mm pulley and ditching the waste gate. Good idea for street driving if you want to limit top end boost and have the low end boost to come in sooner. It pulls a few degree because of iat temps.

A 2 step could help too. The 6L80 has been good especially at my power level, but eventually a TH400 with a trans brake and 2 step will be sorely needed.

I am thinking clutch hit master. If I can slip the clutch and still have normal clutch petal other times, it will be great.
