Distance between stage and deep stage

I believe it is roughly 7" between activating the pre-stage light and then the stage light.

Does anyone know the distance between activating the stage light and turning off the pre-stage light? (deep staging)

2, 4" ???

5" give or take a inch depending on how each tracks system is set up.

It depends on your tire diameter.

When staging, you turn on the stage light by breaking the stage beam with the front edge of the tire.
When deep staging, you keep rolling through until you turn off the prestage bulb by "un-breaking" the prestage beam with the back edge.

Either way, the ET timer starts when the stage beam is "unbroken" by the back edge of the tire.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Sorry - I got ahead of myself in the above response. Deep staging takes tire diameter out of the equation. Tire diameter otherwise is a factor.

Since the back edge of the tire both sets the stage depth and starts the ET clock, the rollout distance is always the same and equal to the separation of the beams.

Jim

Edit: I answered two different questions. Tire diameter does affect how far you roll into the beams after staging until you are deep staged. Once deep staged tire diameter does not affect rollout
