Used ZL1 pricing?
Hi guys, I am new to the Camaro world. I been looking for a few years now and really like the ZL1. A dealer over in Ohio, about 2 hours from me, has a used 2013 ZL1 for sale. They are asking $46k for it, it has about 3k miles on it. Perfect condition, no accidents or blemishes. I am working with them on the price still, but just wondering what these are holding value wise. This car has a few options: sun roof, 6 speed manual, silver wheels (not the black ones) and black hood carbon fiber insert. Sticker was just over $59k for it. Seems like a pretty fair price but with all the rumors of new body style, changes for 2015, etc, would I be foolish not to just wait?

You could honestly get it down to $42-44K if they want to move it. I wouldn't settle for $46K. Deals can always be made.
Look to see how much used 2014 ZL1's are going for. 2015 won't change but 2016 they will. You can wait if you want, comes down to personal peference if your wanting a used 2013 or 2014. Then again if your wanting a 2016, a ZL1 may not be offered its first year. We will have to wait to see if it's confirmed by GM first. |

I found a few new 2014s at dealers here but no one wants to deal on price. This dealer is set on their used pricing saying "they don't need to sell it today". LOL

They have a line for everything. And although he is telling you the truth, it doesn't mean that he wouldn't really love to sell it today either, especially as they love to end the month with a great sale to boost his monthly quota. But I agree with the others that have posted on here. Try this exercise, call another dealer and describe the car to them, and ask them what they would give you for it in trade. As you realize you are going to have to be creative and avoid giving them the vin, and tell them that you would really just like to get a quick quote without driving the car around, and minimize time wasted. See what the other dealers offer you for the same car. I bet it will be around 39K. That should help you see the light and make a good decision.

Thanks. I figured thats about what they paid for the car, actual cash value, 39-40k. Plus they sold him a new vette, so they are just raking money in hand over fist with just this one customer alone.

I was amazed to hear the guy who bought the car originally paid $5 over sticker for it. Had it a year, put less than 3k miles on it and then traded it for a new stingray. With all the taxes and fees he lost like $30k in one year!

As others have said don't jump on the first deal you see but keep an eye out for the one you want. Odds are if you walk in there with the serious intent of buying the car they will work with you. If you have cash to put down or a good trade in they should drop it down to at least $40 - 42k out the door. Good luck

^^ Exactly, that's what I am hoping for anyway. Tomorrow is the last day of the month. I want to get the best deal I can. I even looked on the classifieds here and on craigslist, most used ZL1s people are asking $52-53k for.

If your waiting for a Gen 6 ZL1 camaro it may be a few years before it's released.

I've seen 2012s go for low 40s on ebay with buy it now. Clear titles and less than 6k miles. The 12s are the best of many worlds used, oldest modern ZL1, same 550hp as 13 & 14s and a few one year items and low production will likely hold their value best down the road when the Gen6 are out.
