How close is too close for steering boot near header?

I just installed kooks LT headers yesterday. The install went fairly smooth but it was a tough one.

The rubber steering boot is about 1/8 to 1/4 near the tube. My headers are ceramic coated. How close is too close?

Thanks!

Being that the headers are ceramic coated, it will be fine. I have yet to do this on my SS, but when I had my G8, I also had ceramic coated long tubes that were close to the intermediate shaft. Heat was never an issue. You should be fine

Thanks man! I hated to do it but I had to cut it off. I was late for work and I couldn't get the boot over the universal joint. It would be touching the header for a 1+ hour ride into work. With my luck, it would have caught on fire so i cut it off.

Man, these headers are loud. You get on it just a little bit and it sounds mean. I feel like an Ahole at times. I love them for tailgaters, left lane dicks and people using their cell phones behind me.. It gets their attention real fast.

I’m Still diggin your ride essence...beautiful!
