coolant leak

Our 2013 SS has a small leak ( coolant ) so small there is no evidence on garage floor. Our local mechanic found it, there is a service bulletin ( PIP4735D ) but even with only 22,000 miles Chevy wont warranty this. Our mechanic is ordering special tools to do the repair, will keep you posted.

Is it the leak at the oil cooler block ?? If so I went thru that one too and had to order a tap to clean out the threads where the fitting goes into the side of the block. Not a bad job, I think about an hour is what they charged me..Good luck..

Mine has a similar issue. Never leaks off the car. It is weeping from around the entire top tank crimp. I knew because you can smell it whenever the car gets hot but I have no other issues with it so far.

Did they tell you where it is leaking from?

Yep, thats the same leak, the service bulletin was from 2102, not bad enough for a re-call I guess.

I had suspicions about that crimp around the tank also, am researching an all aluminum replacement. Kinda pricey but probably a good investment, this will probably be our last car. gettin old

Yea, glad that's all it was. Yea they said they didn't do a recall because it didn't happen on a lot of engines, only some. I was told the tap used to "clean out" the threads in the aluminum block where the fitting goes into came from overseas, lol. I got lucky and 1 of my techs had 1 in his tool box, got it fixed the same day !

Camaro 2012 - Mine leaked at "gear" box - they notice it's from coolant pump (my car overheated alot and there was no coolant and spots on floor) and had to replace it.

I had the same leak. Be careful, my closest dealer was quoting me $1100.00 to replace the fitting. They were saying they had to remove suspension parts to access it etc. That's when I researched the problem on here and did it myself. It's not hard if you have the right socket and extensions.

I hear ya there, Im 63 and sometimes just don't want to do the work myself. Like I said before, only took about 30-45 minutes but they charge an hours labor, so shouldn't be too bad, cost me about 150.

I had the same thing. The engine oil cooler line was cross threaded from the factory. Unfortunately for me I had to replace the entire block.

Wow, well that sucks, I got luck and they didn't even have to use the tap to clean out the thread, and it wasn't seized up in the block like some folks had..

Save the headache and delete that oil heater. Frees up quite a bit of room too!
