I think the 6th Gen is a good step above the 5th Gen. And I really didn't think that until I saw them up close and personal and drove one. I just had to have a 17 ZL1 A10 and I jumped at the first opportunity to get one. Hands down that was the best car related decision I ever made. Going from a 5th Gen, my 2010 had more room and better visibilty, if you can say that about a 5th Gen, lol!! But in ways, it really was kinda too big. The 6th Gen out-performs the 5th stock to stock. And the options and features it has make it even more desirable. I would say to take on for a drive and see how you like it.

BTW, before I got my ZL1 I test drove a 17 SS. And it felt just as fast bone stock as my bolt-on 10 SS felt. The interior was more comfortable and the steering was tighter. If you have a modded 5th Gen, I could see not wanting to upgrade to a 6th. But if your 5th Gen is stock, or if you are planning to get a Camaro, then go for the 6th Gen.

My Gpi cam 5th keeps my buddy's modded 6th looking at my tail lights I'd rather keep it unless I trade in for Z06

I won't ever own a SIDI engine unless there is no alternative. GenIV LSx ftw woot. I don't like the a/c vents freezing your hand on the 6th so that would be a definite no. Money wise you can spend the difference between the two on a 5th and the 6th gen wouldn't stand a chance.

The gen 6 ZL1 is a dream, but even if it going to be sold here in Sweden the price are going to be to high, at least 85-90 000 $.....the 17 2SS is about 51000 $ here...then it is a 2SS, magnetic ride, dual performance exhaust, automatic etc, so pretty much options...
But if Im going to change I want a manual trans I think.

DAM I never noticed that until now. I can see how the a/c vents could do this .... Anyone else have this problem?

the 6th gen is better in every way performance wise! The 5th gen has more room and looks better IMO. I felt extremely cramped in the 6th gens i test drove, and the backseat isnt even big enough for kids IMO. I wouldnt mind having a 6th gen at some point, but it wont be until their prices come down to reality.

So you write a post on a 5th gen Camaro forum and expect an unbiased answer ?

Would you prefer it posted over on Camaro6? So you can hear about what an antiquated, inferior piece of slow junk you own? Their words not mine. I dont own a Camaro anymore. But I still prefer the 5th gen styling to the 6th. I don't buy into the supercar nonsense a lot of the 6th gen owners are chanting.

I think that both are nice. But mechanically I prefer the ls3/l99 motor just because it's a sequential fuel injection instead of direct. The valves get dirty with carbon since they get no fuel to clean them out. If you deside to get the lt1 prepare to run seafoam thru the vacuum of the intake port every other oil change just to keep your valves clean. I wish that GM copied Toyota and have sequential and direct supplying fuel to the engine.

I don't think any of these cars are suitable for kids. If I had kids, I would never put them in a Camaro. These cars are cramped enough as it is. I would use my SUV for the kids. Plus, in the event of an accident, do you really want your child in the back seat of ANY Camaro?

I doubt the prices will drop any time soon unless you get a used one with some good mileage on it. The 6th Gen ZL1 is really a phenomenal machine. The handling, power, overall performance, etc, no other vehicle can give you everything the ZL1 will give you for anywhere near the price.

If you really want to get to the nitty gritty....

The 10-13 are the best looking ones. They really went downhill after that.

Agreed. It's an excuse for married guys to have a nice toy without the wife yelling at him so he says the kids will fit and the wife buys into it but sooner or later none of it will matter when divorce happens and she gets the house, kids AND the Camaro.
