I just hope that someone at GM is listening. It's not good when Camaro LOVERS are criticizing their product! Designers and bean counters (CEO)--are you hearing what we are saying???

I don't mind the 14 refresh. If they used the 14 tailights with my 11 headlights I would like that more.

I've had both a Generation 5 SS and Generation 6 SS for 3 months now and drive the 6 three days a week to work (60 mi round trip) and the 5 two days a week to work to keep the miles down on both. Most of the comments are accurate. The 5 feels like and drives like a muscle car. The 6 drives like a sports car. With that, I mean that the 5 is bulky but smooth and, for the most part, quiet. The 6th is rougher and tighter and the engine is much louder. I still like my 5 gauges and entertainment center better than the 6. The 6 gets waaaaaayyyy better gas mileage than the 5 though. I averaged 17.6 consistently with my 5 on a weekly basis. The 6 averages 20.5. On trips from Las Vegas to Phoenix, I always had to stop on the way to get gas in my 5. I can make it on one tank in the 6. The best mileage I've averaged on a road trip in the 5 was 24.9. I've gotten 27 with the 6. The two cars are alike, yet different. The 5 is a muscle car, the 6 is more of a sports car.

I have a Gen 5 with more than double factory hp and drive from Logandale to Vegas occasionally. Usually doing better than 80 mph through a 4L80, one less OD gear and I get 20-21 mpg with the AC blowing ice cold. It's fun knowing I can pass anything I want anytime I want and still get better than 20 mpg.

Nice! Vegas Bound. Have you been to LVMS yet? I plan on taking my Gen 6 and Gen 5 to the track to race them against each other at the next Midnight Mayhem. It would be cool to see your Gen 5 with double the factory HP there.

I was planning on going this weekend but MM was cancelled for some snowflake music festival.

3rd place now for the 6th gen behind the Challenger. That really is a let down. This really shows how popular the 5th gen was and still is. For those thinking the 5th gen retro look is outdated..think again. The Challenger blows that theory to pieces..

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If GM just continued with the 5th gen and introduced the new engines for '16 and lightened up the platform a little (100-200 lbs would've been easy for them) sales wouldn't have tanked like the Alpha based 6th gen.

I poster this in another section but I think this is a great side by side comparison. I try not to get into the generation debates, in fact it took me a little time to warm up to the 5th gen over my loved but now gone 4th gen, but I think is clear that for at least the 2019, it was definitely a step backwards in regards to appearance. Honesty I think whoever designed the front end of the 2019 should be reassigned. If both were brought out at the same time, at the same price, I think most people would choose the 5th despite the 6th being on a better chassis.

Kids and the back seat

Hi,

My first post here -- thinking of getting a 5th Gen Conv but also saw some noooice 6th gens. The comments here about kids brought up a classic story from when my kids were in carseats. My oldest was 3 - 4 and th twins were in the infant room. I pulled up in the IROC to day care, 5-point harnesses in the back seat. When I left the room, the ladies were plastered to the window to see how the h*ll I would get them in the car given their habit of "planking".

So without thinking, I removed the t-tops and "dropped" them into their seats to the thunderous applause of the ladies.

For a while I had Spongebob floormats in her as my boys loved riding in her. Used to take my oldest to the car shows.

Yeah the seats may be small, but when the kids are small too it can be great. Now the twins are 5'11" and defensive linemen, complaining my WRX front seat is too small.

So eff it -- I'll just take off the goddam roof.

Anyway, thanks for all the great tips here. You could probably run on two cylinders with a flat tire, granny shifting, and out run my IROC's LG4.

(Yes, I know my IROC is not a 5th nor a 6th gen. I'm here as I am thinking about a newer convertible and I know from experience most of the Camaro forum members are helpful and understanding.... right?!?)

Looks alone the 5th gen was more readily accepted by the masses than the 6th gen. With the 6th gen facelift GM is about to shelf the camaro all over again.

TSP has both of the fastest SBE 5th and 6th gen camaro's. The 5th gen was .3's faster and trapped higher. interesting
