Summit Point Shenandoah circuit pics & comments

Nice place to run a Z/28. It is a 2.2 mile circuit with 22 turns and is highly technical. This is my first visit, and it was a learning experience. Miatas rule this circuit but the Z/28 proved to be quite a contender. Unfortunately, I was plagued with a tire issue that ruined my last sessions. I did get 3 dry sessions before a slow leak developed in the right front tire. I had a data tag on the car for lap times but I will not get the info until tomorrow. My brother-in-law's M3 was doing well also. Here are a few pics:

That looks like a lot of fun. I'd like to take my car to a track, but I wouldn't know where to begin.

I haven't run the Shenandoah yet, but I hope to in October. Those banked turns look interesting.

That track does look technical but it also looks like a lot of fun.

I followed some cars on the first session before I realized approximately where to position my car for this crazy "karussel" turn. It is a banked piece of concrete that takes practice to enter smoothly. Otherwise, the car gets upset and can scrape the belly pan bolts and catalytic converter shield (guilty...). I enjoyed my runs there and intend to go back.

I'd love to drive that track one day. It looks to be a bit more forgiving on brakes since the straight isn't as long as the one on Summit Point's main track.

Were there any other Camaros out there that day?

Yes, just one. A 2014-15 V6 car for whatever reason was the only other Camaro in a sea of Miatas, 3 series BMWs, Lotus Elises, Porsche 911s, etc. This track is not that forgiving on brakes. The speeds aren't as high as the main circuit, however, you are forever trail braking. The longer straights give the brakes time to cool and this tight course after 30min takes it toll. My brakes were fine, but many others complained about fade(especially my brother-in-law). It is a very demanding track to keep your eyes up and to be aware of the many areas that you should never put your wheels.

Cool...I may go back then too. Trackdaze is a nice group and very organized.

Interesting about the brake fade. Hopefully I'll be able to find out for myself one day! And of course your brakes were fine, you have a Z/28

Have you ever run with FATT? I'm interested to see how they differ from Track Daze. FATT is sold out of tickets for a lot of their events until late summer so it would be nice to hear how a different organization runs things as an alternative if needed.

Never heard of FATT. I will have to check that out. Thanks! Oh, Friday at the Track...may be able to swing that one too.
