Why not the new LS 427

Why didn't GM put the new LS 427 in the camaro? IT would have been a real throw back car with lots of extra room in the engine compartment for upgrades and allowed for an enormous amounts of aftermarket power adders.

Are you talking about the LS7? That engine is handbuilt for the ZO6. Way too expensive to put in the Camaro.

Because 'a real throwback car' wasn't the point of the new Camaro. It was the point of the Challenger.

Sorry I meant the ZZ427 GM performance parts has recently released. IT was recently about $12,000. They also have a limited edition version for about $18,000

Hmm maybe cause the LS3 is roughly valued at what 5k or 6k max, I don't want my camaro to have a base msrp of 40 to 45k unless were talking z/28.

Gas Guzzler Tax, Worse gas mileage, more expensive.

It would be sweet though.

Besides you can get all kinds of high power builds via the aftermarket builders.

So for people with the money they can already build a faster car. Without worring about GM to have to do it.

Umm, no actually its just the opposite. The 427 itself IS THE Limited Edition model. There are only 427 of them being built and each one receives a special kit to signify its character.

Is anyone buying a 1ss or 2ss for gas mileage? I do not think so. And if GM made 40 or 50,000 427's over a 2-3 year period the price would go down just like anything else. All I am saying is that the zz427 or even the LS376 with 480 HP or the LS376 with over 500 HP could have been the options for the difference between a 1SS and 2SS

actually there is a zz427 and a limited edition version 427 listed on the GMPP website, just a thought about the 427. BEsides 20 years from now it could be like the 409's put in Impala's from the 60's. Rare and highly valuable now.

Neither do I. But does anyone want to pay a monthly gas guzzler tax just to own a 500+ hp car?

Didn't think so. Hence why we do it aftermarket. No real way the gubment can officially tag us with a GG tax.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention the fact that..uh, the options thing (60 diff. options? Good god..) of the early camaros would kill GM where it stood in today's day and age. This isn't 1969 anymore, sir.. GM isn't the be all end all; unfortunately.

EDIT 2: There's also an edit button.. see, I can use it. SO can you.

one of the reasons i like the camaro over the challenger is because of the mileage
