What’s it like driving w cut-outs open?

For those that have cut-outs, how often to drive with them open? Is it too loud for driving around town? Can you still hear yourself think? What about drone?

Is it too loud for driving around town? Depends on the town. But around here, it’s pretty cool to idle around town with them open and sit at red lights etc.

Can you still hear yourself think? Not at WOT and pretty much not on the open highway. When I attend performance events, I wear hearing protection. I highly recommend this.

What about drone? See above. Of course there’s drone if you leave them open. Cabin noise is insane going down the road with them open!

Hope this helps. Also I have NOWEEDS, they’re a tad louder outside and kick up dust off the road which is pretty cool.

Your signature does not appear to mention the noweeds modification.. perhaps a build update is in order.

it's really all about placement.
i made an 18hr cross-country trip with them stuck open once... and it actually wasn't the worst (or at least better than the time i drove 5hrs with the mufflers in the trunk).

the key is that my cutouts point out the back of the car & beneath the rear fascia. had i done the ones in the center tunnel that dump out next to the transmission, it'd be miserable with the reverberations off the road & up into my seat. it's still screamingly loud outside, but most of that racket goes out the back.

thanks for the replies. I really like the Noweeds but don't think those can be installed at the back of the car. Anyone seen them installed there?

I have QTP installed right after the cat. They are open 90% of the time if I'm alone. If there are others in the car 90% of the time they are closed. You cannot have a conversation with them open. I have long tube headers and hi flow cats, at idle it's not bad but when you open it up it is LOUD. From the cutouts back I have stock exhaust so it's pretty mild when closed.

This is the best way I can describe it because audio clips online are worthless, at least the were for me when I was considering it. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being stock exhaust and 10 is you literally have to plug your ears cause it is so loud it hurts. I would rate it at a 7 with other exhaust systems like magnaflow or flowmaster around a 3-4.

Hope that helps you

There is a video on youtube where a guy had cutouts towards the rocker panels and it set off some side airbags up by the roofline from the vibration. Could you imagine that. He shows you the cutouts before he puts them on.
