My BMW for a used Camaro SS?

So I was one of the 12,000 who pre-ordered, but had to give my order away due to a family emergency. Now I have a chance to get what I've been lusting over for a few years now...

I own a 2008 328i Coupe with essential options only (parking sensors, keyless everything, sunroof). My father just called me and said his friend wants to get rid of his ~10 month old SS and likes my 3 series.

I don't have any details of the SS, but do you think this would be a fair trade? My Bimmer has about 20k miles on it and was worth close to 40k new. How much are used Camaros going for today?

TY for the link, my guess has been that the Camaro hasn't really lost any value even after driving off the lot. I was hoping to find more "accurate" prices from anyone who's in the know rather than any inflated hype prices.

A used 2SS can be had for 32K or so. Maybe even less if you find the right deal. There was one somewhere for 26K or so. I don't remember where.

But find out all of the details on the car first. Miles, trim (1SS or 2SS), options (RS or non-RS), and then come back and post your findings. We'll tell you.

I for one would trade almost any car for a Camaro. It's just that great of a car.

alot of it depends on how many miles the SS has...

a 328 @ 20k miles with an original value of 40k USD would be a good trade for a 2SS with somewhere around 10k miles.

anything above 10k, i'd say your getting closer to a wash... anything below 10; your really getting a hell of a deal.

I'd have to wait on my father to get details, and he's very forgetful/lazy when it comes to these things.

Big thing to find out (for me anyway) would be are we talking automatic transmission or manual? The deal killer would be if the SS was an automatic.

a used 2SS goes for around 31-33 grand but like john said if you get a good deal you might get it for around 30 grand maybe less. And like bolteon said it also depend son how much miles the SS has. I can't really tell you whether I think its a good deal or not till you give us the mileage on the SS.

If you have 20k and he has 10k and his is an SS/RS and you are happy with the color i would say even trade.... Keep in mind This is Not anything Like Your BMW..... So think it through .... I had a 5 series many moons ago and was spoiled by every accoutrement

You're right. I've driven the SS and was very disappointed with its steering and chassis, but that's only compared to a taught German suspension, I suppose. I do admit I get nervous driving anything other than a BMW because everything is so soft and wollowy compared to it...

But seriously, the Camaro has more appeal than a lonely Eva Longoria with daddy issues.
