Question brakes keep screeching

my brakes keep screeching only when i am going thru parking lots or at real low speeds. I took it into the dealer and they said all the 2SS/RS's do it because they have performance breaks on them...now these are the same people that didn't even know that the engine goes from 8cylinders to 4 when u are cruising for better gas mileage...help?

I doubt even changing them will help. Your SS does have high performance Brembo brakes. Brake squeal is something that's fairly common. You can have them changed out but don't be suprised if they still squeal a little. Mine aren't that bad but they do squeal from time to time.

I put on Hawk performance ceramic brake pads and no more squeal. I've been very happy. The squeal was driving me crazy.

Send a message via MSN to Scott@Bjorn3D
And you do not get the roller skates that come with the replacement pads.

The stock pads are a high metallic compound.

IMO if you wanted quiet brakes, you shoulda got an LT lol.

I had this issue with my brakes twice now when I put it in for service, the first time the dealership cleaned them for me, the second time, they said they can't do anything since I already have the upgraded brake pads, rollerskates, and shims. They said they had a vette guy go to pepboys and get a set of brakes from there that didn't squeal. I'm thinking of upgrading to cross drilled brakes with ceramic pads...anyone else make this move yet? If so any decrease in squealing? Until then I'm still

The noise you are experiencing is common to brembo and other high performance brakes. I have a set of Cobalt Friction racing brake pads on my Camaro and they are ridiculously noisy, BUT they also stop consistently. I have a Mustang GT, now a full Saleen in my garage. The GT brakes didn't make any noise. When we tested it at Gingerman they were destroyed after just a couple of laps. When we tested the SS at the same track I did several sets of laps and left with good brakes. Bottom line, your SS brakes are really good. Accept the noise just as you do the LS3 exhaust note.
