Range AFM Disable warranty worries

I just received my Range AFM disabler for the L99 engine. I am excited to disable the AFM and be in v8 mode all the time, but am VERY skeptical about warranty issues and it voiding it. Does anyone have one that has gotten warranty work on the car, or can confirm that it factually does not void it? thanks

Since it doesn't reprogram your ECU permanently, how would they tell you had it unless you left it plugged in?

Besides, they are probably only going to do an ECU download if you have catastrophic damage and you are having it repaired under warranty.

A question for those with AFM. Can you feel it going in and out? Reason I ask is I have a 2007 Avalanche with AFM and you can't tell. A friend who has a Grand Cherokee with Chrysler's version of AFM says he can tell. He was driving the Avalanche with me on a road trip and didn't even realize the Avalanche had it until I brought up the display on the DIC and had him watch it.

I am with you. If you can not notice it, how could it be a bad thing? You get better mileage, save money, and have the power you want when you want it. Sounds pretty sweet to me!

If you're intently listening and waiting for the feeling, you can. Mine doesn't jolt me or cause any huge noise issues. I can usually slightly feel it cruising along round 48-50mph and that's it.

I confirmed with my dealer that there is no footprint of the range device. Even with the CEL's there was no trace of the device. The device itself will have ZERO impact on your warranty.

1: Yes, you can hear/feel it when you switch to an aftermarket exhaust. The stock exhaust on the Camaro is way to quiet anyway.

2: There is a noticeable delay when punching it and going from 4 to 8 cylinders.

3: You don't really get that much better gas mileage because you'll end up wasting gas at less than freeway speeds.. especially around town as the AFM yo-yo's in and out.

4: Here's the gas logs from my recent trip to Sturgis Camaro Rally. I ran with AFM ENABLED from Ellensburg, WA to Spokane, WA.. didn't save me any gas, so I disabled it.

# Date Miles Gal. MPG Price Notes
87 6/28/13 292.0 14.41 20.3 3.999 Sinclair, Rapid City SD
86 6/27/13 169.0 7.89 21.4 3.799 Exxon-Mobil, Buffalo WY
85 6/27/13 344.0 16.16 21.3 3.939 Conoco, Billings MT
84 6/26/13 188.0 9.14 20.6 3.779 Exxon-Mobil, Missoula MT
83 6/26/13 195.0 9.90 19.7 4.039 Pilot Gas, Spokane WA
82 6/25/13 169.0 10.61 15.9 3.299 Chevron, Ellensburg WA

And this was my mileage log on my way back from Sturgis (running 8cyl all the time):

# Date Miles Gal. MPG Price Notes
94 7/1/13 178.0 8.62 20.6 4.099 Texaco, Vantage WA
93 7/1/13 163.0 8.18 19.9 3.759 Conoco, Coeur D'Lane ID
92 7/1/13 230.0 10.28 22.4 3.779 Exxon-Mobil, Missoula MT
91 7/1/13 191.0 9.48 20.1 3.769 Conoco, Livingston MT
90 6/30/13 251.0 12.34 20.3 3.819 Conoco, Cody WY
89 6/30/13 111.0 5.86 18.9 3.689 Conoco, Gillette WY

I can't help the Forum's style of "formatting", so if you want to see for yourself:

I am not being rude so please don't take it that way. Why did you order it if you were concerned about the warranty issue. Did you bother to read up on it and find out if there were any warranty issues?

It isn't programming anything to your ECM, so GM doesn't care. Notwithstanding, it could produce some underlying nuisances, but it won't affect your warranty as long as you remove it from the car when taken in for service.

I'm not a fan of plugging long-term devices into the data link, period.

Thanks guys. I did research quite a bit before I purchased. But I never got direct confirmation that it really does not affect warranty-someone can claim whatever they want, right?

My AFM has been tuned out for a long time. Just drove from Cali to NY and got 25mpg. Petty good if you ask me.

I say plug that thing in and don't look back.
