I thought GM added a long warranty on when they did the super charger replacements? I know they did something like 10 years or 100k in my buddy's V.

That extended warranty is on the supercharger only, not the engine.
What we don't know is if the original owner did something that may have bent a rod or something and finally let loose. |

Do you guys have serial numbers on your ecm’s? The dealership told me my ecm has been wiped clean and looks newer/cleaner than the rest of my engine, implying that I’ve either wiped it clean or switched it out and is why they won’t assist me with my blown engine so I’m wondering if there is a way to track it.

With the ECM being messed with, it sounds like the car was de-modded before being sold. It's not hard to do a little research and find out. All you need is the previous owners name, city would help.

Yes I drove it for over five years and approx 46k miles and have had warranty service on it so I’m at a complete loss on this ecm development. Something weird has happened somewhere along the line and the dealership is looking at me.

To be practical: either way it's out of warranty. So does it matter? You need a new engine. As stated I would see if Gm will comp you with one...else have one built. |

The problem is that I asked GM to help me and they declined due to the ecm issue so I’m hoping that they will help me if I can get it resolved.

Well...
Blown rod, replaced ecu, and...out of warranty. I don't think you have a leg to stand on. Ask them nicely to get you a deal on an LSA. I think that's the best you can hope for. |

Well if Kittt never had anyone mess with ECM/Tune then it must of been PO.... I'm thinking out loud here- was it bought used through GM dealer? and sold with a warranty, get me? its not Kittts fault if it wasn't presented when sold, then GM should stand behind it IMO I think GM should give evidence as to when the ECM was wiped- they would know because its been running on their program since it happened, now if bought from individual I would think your up a creek.
Kittt will the dealer give you any proof of when this took place?

Why should GM stand behind it?
Firstly, it's a year out of warranty. Secondly, the most common cause of thrown rods is lack of oil...not a manufacturing defect. We have no idea when the ecu was replaced. Maybe in it's first month's of existence. Maybe it was replaced by GM...maybe not. Maybe it was replaced to hide mods...maybe not. At the end of the day a thrown rod in an unmodded LSA is a huge red flag...it's just not common in an otherwise very stout engine. |
