Do you math?

Simple question, can anybody answer it, correctly?

36/2(3)=?
There are 2 common answers, only one is correct.

I'm thinking it's 6 because of pemdas. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. So you do multiplication first: 2 x 3 = 6. Then you do division: 36/6=6

I'll give you a hint multiplication and division are equals and done left to right.

But the parenthesis used here aren't to indicate order of operations, it's there to indicate multiplication.

If it was 36/(2+3) then it'd be a different story.

You would do the logic within the parenthesis first. It's already solved. Go left to right

I do math. My differential equations teacher in collage was fired when I showed up.
Edit: Well not really fired, he was retired.
Bunch of worthless shit if you ask me.

It's 54. With PEMDAS both multiplication and division are same level operations meaning you perform them left to right if they follow immediately after each other. Same goes for addition and subtraction.

It is 54. Multiplication and division are interchangeable in order as long as you're going left to right. So 36/2=18, 18*3=54.

Funny that you pose this question...this has been going on for the past 2-3 days. The answer is 54, but if it's "viewed" incorrectly...then the answer is 6. The parenthesis is what's causing the confusion. Normally you'd solve the parenthesis 1st, but there is no problem inside of the parenthesis...just a number.
