Coming along nicely. You are a brave man drilling into a brand new block like that! Did you get your windage tray kit from Dart?

Yea, that chipping around the lifter window isn't pretty. I wonder if mine is like that. Can't tell since the heads were bolted on when it showed up, and its less apparent from the valley side view. Maybe its part of the additional machining process that TMS does to the aftermarket blocks. Let me look through my pics. I dont see it hurting anything though.

Oh, and the TMS dart shortblocks dont use a chain dampner at all. FYI.

oooh nice color cam. Is that an upgraded core?

Couple questions...

What does the moly spray and bake do?

What's the theory behind removing the oil pressure relief valve? I left mine in place, but my oil pressure is great. Once warmed up I see 49-50psi at idle and 62psi at 7000rpms. Using the melling high pressure pump that comes with the tms longblock.

No problem, questions are good!

The Moly spray coats the metal with a thin layer of molybdenum disulfide (it is like graphite), baking it sets it into the metal so it does not just rub off.

By removing the oil pan pressure valve so there is one less thing to go wrong, it is my understanding that it is for the variable valve timing system.

That is some good oil pressure, my current LSA idles at about 33psi and tops off at 45psi.

I follow on the baking process, I guess I don't understand how coating it with moly helps. I'm assuming its some type of protectant, just curious. Carry on.

Sorry about that, here is the short version of what it does.

Dry moly lube is a dry film lubricant fortified with molybdenum disulfide that reduces friction and improves overall operating performance. Dry moly lube bonds instantly to metal surfaces to form a dirt repelling barrier that lubricates and protects the surface from pressure and friction. Withstands temperatures up to 650 degrees F and extreme pressures, as well as water and chemical attack.

It is just extra insurance that engine break in goes smooth!

Side note sales rep. from Callies is not impressed with the Boostline rods and wanted me to use the Ultra Enforcer rods. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I think the sales rep wants you to buy more Callies product...

Wow awesome thread so far. I may have missed it but did you ever dyno the car with the current motor that you built in it?

Hello,
Thank You, Glad to know people are still reading it.
No you have not missed it, I hope to get it done this spring, the car is ready. Right now cannot find a good tuner in western Washington. It drives awesome, I feel that I have all of the bugs worked out of it. I cannot wait to drive it again, it is a blast! And will finally now how much HP it makes.
The new engine build should be ready to drop into the car in approx. 12 to 18 months. I am not rushing it, I want to do it right. I already have 4 people that want to buy the current engine from me, if they do not buy it I will post it for sale here and craigslist. Sold my first engine from my red Camaro within a week of posting on craigslist, it went into an awesome 55' Nomad.

Well thanks for making this thread. Good build threads for our cars are few and far between. I will be following the progress

Red face Rethinking E85

OK, I have been reading and looking up E85. I can see the benefits and with the secondary fuel supply system I am putting in, E85 looks to be the way to go. There are some fuel stations around me that are selling E85 now, so it looks like it is doable. I need some help tuning for E85, I have no experience with it. I found this info. but someone that has a tune that I could study would really help. I had someone helping me to understand HP tuners and has got me to where I am (Thanks again to jsllc Advanced HP Tuner!!).
But this is a whole new animal to me...

Here are some of the things I found (Phastek)
For enabling flex fuel the table below will need to be adjusted. DTCs P0178 and P0179 will need to be set to MIL On First Error, and SES Enable should be checked by tuner.
[ECM] 201 - Enabled
[ECM] 20220 - Sensor
[ECM] 3133 - 100%
[ECM] 3146 - 1%
[ECM] 220 - Enable

This kit looks like it will work best for me...

Well checked out some of the gas stations I found on google. Guess what, none of them sell E85 most said they stopped due to lack of sales...

So, I may just stick with my 92 plus Boostane. It gives me 104 octane and I can get 92 almost any where...
