Dumb headers and catback question

Hey, probably a dumb question, but I have a 2015 1le so my exhaust is quad tip. Apparently there is no axle backs for quad tips? So anyways im looking at the borla atak cat back that has quad tip, and i want LT headers too, but all the long tube headers i see come with high flow cats. So my question is how does a long tube header with cats connect to a catback exhaust? Im really confused if someone could please clarify for me.

Living in California, good luck getting a company to shop you long tube headers. Because long tubes aren't carb legal the companies just won't ship there, high flow cats or not.

Any manufacturer that sells long tube headers will sell them without high flow cats too. Speed Engineering sells theirs without a high flow cart option all together.

IF you're able to get long the headers into California, work from the front back. Long tubes and factory NPP exhaust is a rather heavenly combination IMO. There's no reason to mess that up without hearing it first.

I have the NPP quad tips as well....I'm going to agree with the above statement that longtubes and NPP is a heavenly combo and theres no reason to mess that up.

But to answer your question. After the cats, theres a connector clamp which allows the pipes to be connected together. Some manufacturers either do a pipe step down so itll go from 3in to the OEM 2.5in on the pipe itself allowing the oem connector to work or they will include a connection that starts at 3in and goes to a 2.5in. Both header combos despite being different do fit and connect at the catback.

Clamp looks like this

pyroguy is on point the best "cheap" header option is speed engineering

1) Catless only
2) Chinese made
3) Quality control can be less than perfect
4) Basically no tech support

As far as "budget" headers go, they're the best of them. However, you're likely to have to "massage" them to make them fit right.

Speed Engineering headers are great. Lots of happy members running them including me. Hp gains are pretty even from all of them.

My speed engineering are very well made, I did have to dent one of the passenger side tubes to clear the frame, not everyone has to though. I coated them for $300 and so I have $650 into them total and they are great.

I have Speed Engineering headers on mine as well. I got them ceramic coated black for another $300 as well. Mine needed a bit of "massaging" on both sides. The driver side hit the steering column, so I had to ding that side. The passenger side was close to the frame but cleared at install. After a few heat cycles, it settled and started to hit the frame rail. I had to take it off to clearance that as well. Was not stoked about having to install the passenger side twice...

However, they have been great since! Really woke the car up.

Speed engineering here as well. Quality is very good. Mine fit perfectly, no massaging was needed. Not to sound like a douche, but I could afford the "top of the line" headers and I found zero reason to do that. SE is a really good, stainless header. You wont be disappointed
