Sounds great, looks great. Thanks for posting the vids. Maybe benchmarking the ZL1/Z/28/C6 against each other?

The more of these 'Ring videos we see, the more they are getting the car dialed in and working the bugs out. That is a beautiful thing!

The exhaust tone of the Z/28 sounds better than the ZL1. The car also looks very solid out there. I noticed how it passed that one car on the OUTSIDE of that far curve which means the driver has a lot of confidence in the grip and balance; no understeer issues there! And this is on a notoriously balance-upsetting track like the Ring.

It's quite clear this car is going to be a ferocious competitor right out of the box; no mods needed. With Dodge announcing they're working on a direct competitor to the Z/28 and I'm sure Ford is also busy in their skunkworks... there HAS to be something brewing between the manufacturers. It doesn't make sense economically to have the big 3 suddenly going after the very small HPDE market like this compared to the much bigger consumer market unless there are bigger plans that haven't been revealed yet.

I may be wrong but I'm calling it now; there's a new manufacturers championship series in the works. Maybe even a revival of the old Trans Am series. Watching these videos of the Z/28 on the track, that's not a weekend racer, that's a race winner being developed and tuned.

That would be badass! Ford will need to kick it up a few notches, heh.

How about the revival of the IROC (International Race Of Champions) series?

That's a possibility but I think a revived Trans Am or new manufacturers series would be more interesting. IROC was a field of identically prepared cars from the same manufacturer being driven by top pros from Formula 1, Indy and Nascar. It was more a showcase for driver talent than about the cars.

A new Trans Am or manufacturers series would be about both; drivers AND cars with cars being the big feature. A Chevy vs Dodge vs Ford championship would be fantastic to watch and be a huge PR win for the companies, their cars and racing in general. You can imagine the sales that would generate from fans wanting to drive the street versions of the cars they saw dueling it out on the racetrack. This is where you'd see the Z28 street version for $45k instead of the Z/28 track version for $60k+. Winning a championship is good for sales; just look at what happened with the Z28 street versions after Mark Donohue/Roger Penske won the Trans Am series in one.

just for the hell of it, i busted out my stopwatch to time both the zl1 and z/28 from when they pass the filmer to when they exit the frame on that turn up ahead.

zl1 - 7.3 seconds

z/28 - 6.4 seconds

yeah... its fast. if you look close, you'll see that the z/28 also took that last turn much more aggressively.
