Ok, just for fun, imagine that you can buy a perfectly (1000 point) restored 1969 Camaro SS in your favorite color and options combination for $30,000. Or, you can buy a new 2010 Camaro SS with your choice of color and options for $30,000.

Which one do you buy and why?

I believe I would be very tempted to buy the 69' only because of the appreciation factor. I believe the fun factor would be equal for both of these great cars.

What do you guys think?

well you got pros and cons... the 69 doesnt have to pass emissions.. will have a thunderous sounds... but its doesnt turn worth crap..

the 2010 is a pig... its a tad on the heavy side. other then that... its a toss up

However I dont think you can get a decent 69 SS for less the 35k... not even close.

Buy both. They scratch different itches. However, if you really want a 1,000 point '69, it will be more than $30K.

I have a 69 rs/ss and when you take a long trip at my age you really feel it. The seats suck and comfort is not what it was made for. I get tons of looks and questions when I stop in the 69. Not selling it yet because it is so much fun to have. I am wondering which one I will drive more when I get the new SS.

Great question...

My 2010 Maro is 36K so I'll just play like you said 36K instead of 30K

One question, does my 69' have to be stock or can I put those disc brakes, modern stereo etc inside?

Living in Socal I would take the 69 in a instant. No smog crap to worry about means I can upgrade whatever I want to match the performance of new models while staying legal on the streets.

OK, given the "imagine" wording, I still say both. If you have a 1,000 point '69, it's too nice to drive, so you trailer it everywhere. Sure is nice to go to shows and rallys, though. As a friend of mine says, you can "drive the wheels off " the 2010.

Oh and while you are at it, get a second gen too...

Haha, funny thing is, I remember when 30K COULD buy you a damn near perfect '69 SS. This was merely five to seven years ago.

If you have a big garage with lots of room for a toy to drive once in awhile a classic Camaro can fit the bill, if it's a daily driver or anything close the 2010 is going to be a far better car. I don't have a three car+ garage so the 2010 would be my choice.

If its your only car, go with the new one. Comes with a warranty + will drive better.

If its NOT your only car get the 1969

I've had the classic car (69 Mustang) and I'll tell you this: If I can't update the 69' to drive like a Modern car, no thanks. I don't want a car that sits in the garage because it's only valuable if I don't drive it and I don't want a car that drives like..well a 69'. I've grown soft in my old age and want modern convenience, so either a 69 brought up to date, or more than likely a 2010 which...well I ordered in October.

This one is so easy to me. I take the 69' and I can modernize it later. Wheels, and interior. And you will draw attention for as long as you own the car. The 2010 will be just another nice car 3 years from now.

Plus, as soon as you drive it away, it's worth more. Hell drive it and own it for a while and anytime you want to, you can sell it and buy a 2010 and probably have money left.

By then the ABL might be working.
