1LE Goodyear F1 on 9in SS/RS Rears?

A guy locally has a stupidly good deal on some 1LE Goodyear F1's 285/35/20 and am wondering if they would work on 9in SS/RS wheels all 4 corners?
Thanks.

Actually, if you look at the recommended tire size sticky, It says 9-10 for 285.

Recommended 20" tires for 2010 Camaro
245/45-20 = 28.7" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
255/45-20 = 29.0" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel
265/40-20 = 28.4" tall, 8.5-9.0 wheel
275/40-20 = 28.7" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel
285/40-20 = 28.9" tall, 9.0-10.0 wheel
295/35-20 = 28.1" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel
305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel
315/35-20 = 28.7" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel

the issue is more that the tire is only a 27.85" diameter tire and your OE front pirellis are a 28.68" diameter tire. so your rear tire is going to be .83" shorter than your fronts.

thats if you're running the OE 245/24-20's up front.

you would want 285/40/20 if running stock 245/45/20 up front. will throw off traction control and anything else associated with due to diff in diameter. 295/35/20 is about as narrow as you can go with 35 side wall and keeping stock fronts

He wants to run the 285s in all four corners. But the rear 20x9 from the SS can't go in the front, they stick up too much.

I ran Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my 9" wide RS/SS wheels without issue.

It's pretty much a waste of tread, though, as it's kinda smashing 10 pounds of shit in a 9 pound box. The only reason I did it is because I was waiting for my new wheels to get in! Then I put those tires on the new, wider wheels.

That is almost 100% incorrect. Tons of people are running a square 20x9 setup on these cars and they dont poke out at all. You just keep the 275/40/20 on them.

I stand corrected, I thought the offset would cause issues.

Thanks for your replies guys. So a 285 on a 9in rim in front is a no go?

If you have a stock suspension it is going to be tight, it will at the minimum limit how much negative camber you can have, and possibly even cause the tire to rub on the strut on the top side. If you have replaced the stock struts with coil-overs you may have gained additional clearances due to products design providing a wider stance, on my car with pedders coilovers I gained 10mm clearance on each side.

I would suggest moving your back stock wheel/tire to the front and measure how much clearance you have, realizing that the 285 tire will need an additional 5mm clearance...

SUX so says someone with narrow tires on the front... :-)

I had problems with the stock suspension using the factory rear wheel/tire combination up front with aggressive track camber settings - the tire rubbed on the strut at the top (was forced to use factory camber settings). Now I know there will be some tolerance differences from car to car, however with him attempting to use a 10 mm wider tire there definitively is some risk of the tire rubbing at this point. OP please proceed with caution.
