swapped car seat covers to katzkin airbag light on - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I took the car to a local upholstery shop and they swapped the cloth seat covers for katzkin leather and now the airbag light is on. Will be taking it back to the same shop for further diagnostic.

Help where to start? Should I be looking for a Loose connector? Is it a 2014 SS convertible

yes, look for an unplugged or loose connector.

Mine did that when we swapped to the Katzkins, all the connections were good. I had to take it back to my Chevy dealership and have the airbags "reset" and then it was all good!!

Thanks my friend! I will check the connections today if I find nothing then I’ll take it to the stealership. Not sure if I trust the local shop with the complex airbag electronic components. Anyhow, how much they charge you to reset those lights? Just the diagnostic fee I presume?

Hey there sir, you are welcome. No they didn't charge me anything for the reset of the bags. I bought my Camaro from them, and the upholstery shop did work for them, so no charge for that. Apparently when you disconnect the connectors for the airbags in the seats without disconnecting the battery, it opens the circuit and needs to be reset. Good luck..

So I haven’t had a chance to go to the dealer yet as all the ones around me are backed up and I don’t want to leave my car there for days.

I plugged an OBD2 reader with airbag read capability and it gave me code

B0014-0D Driver seat side air bag deployment loop - high resistance

What should I be troubleshooting from here?

^^^^ Yep, this. Check your connections and wires. Unplug it, then plug it back in, clear the code and see what it does.

I checked all under the seat, they look snug. Should I be disconnecting and reconnecting? Should I be taking the seat cover off via back zipper and looking? Are there connections in the driver seat airbag area? Where on the driver seat should I be looking?

I'm not sure, I didn't see him do the install. I'm assuming that there is a wire coming down out of the seat back for the AB and connects to a harness under the seat. That is where you might want to look at the connectors and make sure they are all good and that no pins got bent on the re install.

Solved!!! The driver side airbag plug was disconnected. Had to remove the seat and unzip the back to get to it. Light never came back on. As always thanks to the wonderful folks in this forum. Couldn’t have done it without y’all.

AWESOME sir!! Yea my next thing I should have let you know about and forgot, was the connector INSIDE the seatback, that one has to be disconnected with the swap too. Glad you found it.
