Launching on Slicks

I recently got a set of 17" Hoosier Slicks and M&H skinnies for my car and wanted to know how all of you guys were launching. What RPM are you guys launching at and I've read 20 psi should be good to start with? The car is a M6. Thanks.

20 PSI may be a little high you may want to go between 16 & 18 psi.

I'm auto when I ran slicks I had my best 60' and ETs at 13 PSI. BUT trapping at 135 mph it would start to walk at about the 120 mph mark.

Start at 22psi and get someone to video the rear tire on the launch. I have been 8.8 @ 156mph leaving the line at 18psi on the bottle, run 20psi off. Too many people try to run far too low of tire pressure. Video and timeslips won't lie.

16 pounds for me. I noticed the walk the first few pass's and I was uneasy but use to it now.

If you have never run slicks before maybe run them higher at 20-22 psi to get used to how they handle.

Yeah, good point the first few pass's the wiggle in the top end is a little un-nerving but I'm use to it now and don't even notice it anymore. I believe I started at 18 pounds.

First pass on my slicks a few seasons ago I bout shit myself at the 1000 foot mark on 11 psi. I run 16 now and the walk is just how I remember bias ply tires.

I use rpm and mph from my datalogs and drop pressure till it doesn't spin on the launch. 16 psi is optimum for my power level and suspension setup.

Yeah I might sneak mine up a touch cause I can dead hook them and bog sometimes at 16 lbs.

Just ran tonight with a best of 12.30. I was launching at around 3500 rpm and the car would just bog down on the launch. Do you think I should rev it up higher on the launch?
