Mine was around 3k installed without a torque converter. Torque converter is $1200 plus install, which I'll be doing this upcoming month

ADM is in Dallas, that's probably your closest bet. THey're also on the forum here, so you can get in contact with them and see what the deal is.
HERE is a link to their profile - you can shoot them a PM, or HERE is their site - I hear they're great to talk to, but have no personal experience. If you decide to come to Houston, there are a myriad of choices, but with ADM 4 hrs closer to you, I'd stick with that route. |

GPI is probably the closest, most reputable, and most knowledgable L99-VVT shop around these parts.

Seems high to me. I just had the whole motor rebuilt due to #5 piston issues. Replaced all internals with forged bottom end, custom ground cam, 3 bolt conversion, dual springs, titanium retainers, lifters, timing chain, oil pump, gaskets, replaced every fastener with ARP, Texas Speed 2" long tubes, McLeod RXT clutch, throw out bearing and pilot bushing. Parts, labor and fluids were just under $7200. Car is at Promasters (Enterprise, AL) getting tuned. Tune is $650ish.

Know a guy who does it on side. You bring your parts and around $1200 for cam and stall swap. Have to get your own time though which is easy enough. Gpi is doing my tuning. Here is car getting worked on

This honestly doesn't sound bad as long as it includes the converter as well. I think I payed around 800 for the converter alone. Then you have the labor to install it.

I have no interest in being the cheap shop. I prefer to be the shop that pays attention to the smallest details, is known for high quality work and does it so well clients travel from all over the country to have r heir cars worked on.
To comment on the quote, I need to see the quote in detail. We need to know if the shop stands behind there we work and the reputation of the shop too. |
