Connecting speakers to aftermarket amp - harness?

Hi all,

What I am working with in my convertible:

PAC unit with Kenwood head unit
Polk front 6 1/2s, Kicker Rear 3 1/2s
JL JD400/4 amp for them
Sub stuff, but doesn't apply to the questions below....

I am wondering what options are out there for one to use the existing speaker wire ran through the car, and splice them into aftermarket amps. So far, I see that one can:

1. cut the harness that connects to the boston acoustics amp, or
2. use a plug and play harness to retain the ability to easily go back to factory.

This sound about right? Are there any other options worth considering?
I don't want to run new speaker wire through the doors as I have read it is a major PITA.

What harness options are there? Any beyond the $60 ripoff harness from S U B T H U M P? (Just seems crazy to spend that much on a simple harness)

Thanks!

Mike

Keep an eye on the classified section here. People periodically sell those S u b t h u m p harness’s when they go back to stock. It’s the cleanest and easiest way, but they are expensive.

Cant you just cut the harness and wire that way though? Seems just as quick and easy, but more a pain if you go back to stock.

On the flip, there really are no other harnesses out there? Or maybe I should run speaker wire from the pac adapter back? That would likely work correct?
