One thing for sure no one can tell what something will be worth in the future. For example I bought a pontiac engine in 79 for $800, the engine turned out to be extremely rare - 20 years later |

Yes it has. Unless it doesn't rain over the lot at Oshawa.

If you are going to keep it until 2050....my stock SS with low miles will blow away all the modded ones in terms of value. Long range, i know, but im sure the 2010 will be the equivalent of a '69 now in pristine condition with matching numbers.

Not trying to be an ass or anything, but there were a lot of these cars made. I doubt you'd be able to get much more than retail for it. Just because it has the styling of a '69, doesn't mean it will have the value of a '69. Would you pay a lot of money right now for a stock '93 Camaro?

There were far more 1957 Chevys built than 1957 Imperials, Lincolns, Continental Mark II, Cadillacs, Buicks, etc. They were also the least expensive and had less features and horsepower than all the others. Yet now they are worth 2-3 times what all the others are. 1965-66 Mustangs certainly aren't any less collected with their very high production. |

I can go 155 and hear the person next to me talking (stock) and my 1964 chevelle ss has all my money and will never see a 155 mph.

My plan is to "will it" to my Godson, be it now or 20-40yrs away, who knows, life is short.
I do wonder where cars like ours will be in 50yrs, things are rapidly accelerating, technology wise. Actually, gasoline will be around for another 100yrs for all reasons now, but will anyone care about our cars then? I think our cars are huge now as our demographic has the $$ and nostalgia to have one, but kids born today? I work with a 29 yr old who has heard of "The Beatles" but couldn't identify one out of a police line up. |

I have a friend with a mustang that asks me the same question all the time. He doesn't seem to understand the concept of money..
Like others have said, money. College is expensive and I try to help my mom out as much as possible with money I get. So no time or money to mod. |

Mine stayed stock for almost 3 years. I kept it stock for so long because I was chasing the bone stock 1/4 mile record. I fell short and only got the 3rd quickest 1/4 mile time. But I managed to get the top spot in the 1/8 mile.
Stock was fun, but being supercharged is much better.

When I was a kid and had a 70 GTO in the 70's, we all wanted to personalize our cars. This involved making them look like a race car... 50's on the back and all sorts of mods to the engine. I'm all grown up now and my 2010 SS is fast enough. I could mod the heck out of it, but it would make it worth less.
What I find odd are poser cars. If it's not a ZL1, why put ZL1 stuff on it to make it look like it is? It's like putting RAIV stickers on the hood of a Firebird with a 350 engine. Who are you trying to fool? If there is a RAIV under the hood then it makes sense, I guess, but the car will never be an original RAIV car. Some of the mods people use don't look good IMO. It is my opinion, but ground effects don't look good. I understand how others think they do, but when is enough, enough? We've all seen trucks that look like someone found a JC Whitney catalog and ordered every possible fin and flipper they could find, but in the end it looks stupid... again IMO. I appreciate subtle mods and even some radical ones, but the car is engineered to work out of the factory and I like my SS just like God intended... it's fast enough and I don't need an extra 50HP. What blows my mind is the expense to get an extra 75 HP at the expense of making it more unreliable. |
