Ever seen a 572000 mile 3.4?
Hello everyone, I just thought I would join at least one board to show this thing off and get a reaction or two. I seem to have picked up a one family 5-speed 95 base Camaro with no electric options but a radio, and it has 572,000 miles on it. The title says 310,000 10 years ago. It does not appear the engine has been replaced and they said it hadn't. It started up no problem even after sitting a year. It seems the clutch had a problem and they parked it. I found the bad clutch pedal line and have ordered it (expensive). Hoping that that is all that's wrong, and I will be driving it next week. I wonder if I sell this one, how will I advertise it? "If it made it this long, it should keep on going!" lol. This may disprove the naysayers a bit who yell that the 3.4 is unreliable Please excuse my horrible pictures I have a dumb phone.

More than worth the $500! That's a steal right there.
572348 miles, 20 years, 28617 a year on average. That's a lot of miles. I'm hoping there were a lot of highway miles in there.

Pretty Cool and well worth the 500. Swap in a 5.3 and about 12 lbs of boost and let it eat!

My neck hurts after that post. Half a million miles on any car is a lot.

Lol, yeah it is a lot. So, I got the clutch line fixed, but I am still encountering a problem... The transmission will act normal and go into gear ONCE and then the next time you shift, the clutch acts like it isn't working... but it works every time after shutting it off until you shift back out of gear. I am more experienced with automatics.. Would the throwout bearing be seizing? No noise unless you try to put it back in gear, even with the clutch fully disengaged it will grind and then thump! engine kill. But As soon as I restart it, I can ease it into a gear again... fluid level in trans low, locking up front input shaft somehow? Thanks!
Edit - I went outside and couldnt get it to duplicate the problem. Sounds like it's time to oil up... lol. Last edited by Eternalsnow; 03-29-2015 at 08:19 PM. |
