I like how you think! However - that's a a great car. It'd be sweat if you could swing both of them

Hello friends! Sorry I haven't been posting much, I have been busy. I have however been reading all I can about the new ZL1 as time permits. I knew when GM failed to debut the Z28 things were going down hill, at least from my perspective. From all I have seen this will be a 50K+ car especially if loaded with all options. I believe closer to 60K+ after dealer delivery, taxes and small mods like tinted windows, breather, wheels or pulley etc etc. This is approaching TWICE what a base line 1SS goes for. Almost twice the price for an ugly front fascia, OK hood, terrible name, supercharger and factory warranty? Really? It's all been a big let down for me personally, quite likely and possibly a frame off resto of a 68 or 69 may be headed my way. I will keep you updated. I know I can have a SUPER NICE 68 or 69 with new everything including blown crate motor with lots more smiles to the dollar than the fail ZL1. Sorry as I mean no offense, and actually until I drive one I can not completely rule the ZL1 out, though it's not looking good for the ZL1 in my future.

http://media.gm.com/content/media/us...lac_ctsv_coupe 3.73, and 3.23 for the auto and manual, respectively...So it seems like the ZL1 will be getting the same 1st through 6th ratios as the CTS-V...except with a taller axle ratio. Quote:

I haven't seen a single thing about the ZL1 that's made me upset, yet...even the price -- while I understand it's going to be out of some people's reach - it'll be a bargain of a car!! |

Hmmm, I wouldn't say it's not financially possible to buy it in cash, though I don't believe I can justify twice the price of a base line 1SS for a supercharger and upgraded suspension with slightly bigger wheels. I could own three nice 1st gens at that price. For a whole lot less, probably half the price I can buy a 2010, add suspension and a super charger and have just as much fun. It's probably just a principle thing for me, I really just want performance and fun. I think if I wanted to spend 60K+- for something that was not a Z28 I probably would have a Vette already. Ehh maybe I am hung on the name, although it may be price as well. I could get one, I will test drive one, the whole time though I will keep 1st gens with big block crate motors and used blown 2010s in mind. I'm not a fan of the ricey looking front fascia, the name, or suede. I am glad others love it though! I do like the new power plant as well. I hope the enthusiasts that justify the extreme markup for a ZL1 love them! As I stated, I will reserve final judgment until I drive one. Just sharing my feelings on the ZL1 thus far. Still a Z28 Camaro fanatic I promise! <3

And I misspoke.....again...Hurst Camaro does make 600 hp, I was reading the tq figure without realizing it... Anyways, here's an SAE-corrected graph for the LSA, and here's a graph from Magnuson...I'm not trying to make any points anymore...it's just fun to look at. |

I don't see why people are down on the steering wheel. I think it looks awesome and I actually like the steering wheel in my SS EXCEPT for the fact that you can't reach any of the steering wheel controls on it with normal sized hands
The shape of the SS wheel is great though and the ZL1 looks even better. Those pics....

Good luck finding a dealer that will let you test drive one of these. Not gonna happen. BTW, what a complete 180* turn you've made on this car. For the longest time your posts were all about this car, now it seems the only good part in your opinion is the engine. Oh well, one less buyer to drive the price up.

I guarentee the zl1 will be faster than the gt500 shelby. They will not release it til they know its better in just about every category. They have been testing it against the Ford. I was gonna put a supercharger in my ss this summer.(pro charger or paxton novi 1500) Dont know if I should just do a bunch of upgrades in my current car or buy the zl1. Don't know if I can wait another year for it to come out.
