Ford wussed out big time by not letting them have a Boss. We all know what the outcome would have been.

MT quote: "you're wondering if maybe the Boss 302 might be a tougher opponent for the SS 1LE. Well, we asked Ford for a Boss and were politely refused. Ford's reasoning was simple: See, the Boss 302 is a distinct and separate model, much like the Camaro ZL1 or the Shelby GT500"

Nice excuse

To me...The Boss 302 is still a Mustang, just like the SS 1LE is still a Camaro. Doesn't really matter though, the more expensive Boss 302 LS still couldn't beat the 1LE, as the VIR times shows.

They're shaking in their boots they didn't want the "The Boss" to get beat by just on option available on the SS.

The fact the Camaro is 300lbs heavier, and three seconds a lap faster at streets should tell you how well balanced the car is. The stang is clearly undertired with 255's, but it's the wheelbase that has always made it nervous. Streets of Willow is like a mini nurburgring- people are going to be slack jawed when they see just how far sub 8 it is going to be when a guy like Heinricy throws down a flyer.

I'm not going to like when I was shopping for a my car I looked at the Boss. It is a bad ass car. I even considering buying the Grabber Blue one I went to look at. Then I saw the dealer mark up of 10k and laughed all the way home. Plus the wife put her foot down on a mustang. One of the first times that I'm glad I listened.

Embarrassing for Ford!!!

There's only "1" reason that they said that, they (we) knew they would lose. It's funny that they let them get away with that. Didn't they also jack the price of the 1LE way up?

Let me be the first mustang owner to congratulate the Camaro SS 1LE at beating a Premium Brembo mustang around a road course, and equaling it in the 1/4 mile(.1 less mph).

The rear end gearing has made up the difference in weight at the drag strip for any stock premium mustang gt OR any premium Brembo mustang gt.

The 1LE is also faster around a road course than a Boss, Boss LS, and base Brembo GT.

What the 1LE is not faster than is a Boss, Boss LS, or BASE 3.73 Brembo GT at the strip. I bet its a very close race to the $29.7k BASE Brembo GT though.

1LE murders the Boss LS on a road course and the Boss LS MURDERS the 1LE at the strip.

What exactly is the difference on the strip? The 1LE is 12.7 @111 right? What is the Boss LS rated in the 1/4?

Why is the boss any more special than a 1LE? The name doesn't mean anything. It's all in how it performs. I would drive a Car named POS if it was a bad ass car.

What a lame comparison. Go rear popularmechanics comparing 2013 boss 302 vs. 1LE. 1LE killed it at the track.

Anyhow, the Boss 302 runs around 12.2-12.4 quarter mile from what I have seen in tests.

lol 12.3 @ 117mph is average. its motortrend's time in a boss LS. 6 mph faster. breaks 11's with drag radials alone.
