How to use forum features

There seems to be some confusion, or lack of awareness about some of the features from the forum. I might add to this post in the future, with explanations on advanced reply, user CP, and other areas of the site.

Features of a post

  1. Edit. Although its not shown here, this is where the edit button normally is, in case you have something to add or want to correct spelling or any other edits you want to make
  2. Single Quote clicking this will immediately quote that post and send you to the advanced reply screen
  3. Multi Quote If there are multiple posts that you want to reply to, click the multiquote on each post you wish to quote. When you are ready to reply use the single quote on the last post you want to include. The multi quotes are remembered when you go to another thread and there will be a prompt asking if you want to use it in your reply.
  4. Quick Reply clicking this will send you down to the quick reply box at the bottom of the screen
  5. Thread Tools the drop down allows you to subscribe to the thread without having to post in it
  6. Search Thread similar to the search site, useful for finding important information when there are hundreds of posts to search through. It also shows a printer friendly version of the thread and lets you email it to someone.
  7. View Single Post it removes everything else from the thread and shows only that post. Handy if you want to link to something you or someone else said but you don't want to quote it. By the way, clicking on the in a quote takes you to the quoted post and thread.
  8. Report Post sends a message to all moderators and administrators, to be used when you feel that there is offensive material, disrespectful comments, or other activity that moderators need to be aware of. As the site grows, notification is becoming increasingly important. Also, please do not confuse this with the "Quote" button ...
  9. User Name when you click on a user name, you can view their profile, send them a PM, find their posts, or add them as a contact. This is sometimes helpful when you want to continue a personal discussion/argument with someone while reading a thread.
  10. Post Reply takes you to the advanced reply screen without having to read the entire thread.

Feel free to offer suggestions on what to add.
