Stage 1 cam questions

Hi, I have a 2011 Camaro 2SS Auto, LT's, and CAI coming soon. What would I need to do to put a stage 1 cam into my car? I am more looking for the sound it brings idc about the power. I know if you do any sort of cam it brings power I just want the sound from it, so in short, what would I need to get to put a cam into my car?

For starters You’ll need an afm delete, as well as having the car tuned. Your going to have to pull the heads to replace the afm lifters at a minimum(id seriously consider replacing all 16) You’ll also have to decide if your keeping vvt or deleting it when you order your cam so you can get the right parts either way to do the swap. I’d keep it if I were in your shoes, that’s what I’m doing to mine when the time comes. You’ll definitely pick up power, and at a stage 1 it should still be plenty drivable without a stall converter.

VVT is Variable Valve Timing, it's a good thing!

AFM is Active Fuel Management - good and bad thing, but for us having Camaro's bad thing

So what I was asking for is more like a list. You know what I mean. I would most likely bring it to a shop near me to install everything. So does anyone have like a list of what I would need

I have the same car as you and GPI just finished putting a SS1 VVT Cam with supporting mods and 3.91 rear gears. Believe me the Cam is unbelievable. It really brought the car to life. LCPLPunk is Right Variable Valve Timing is a Very Good thing!!

Havoc, talk with GPI and tell them what you want to do. Expect to pay about $3500ish for cam/parts/install/tune.

Here is mine with the LS3 GPI Stage I cam. My car no longer has the L99 or VVT, so this is slightly higher lift/duration than the GPI Stage I VVT cam, but not by much. But for sound comparison's sake I figured I would post it, as it should sound very close to what you are considering. Keep in mind I run one of the louder exhausts you can run on these cars - so volume and tone can be tailored to suit your needs.

It is nice and lopey for a 'Stage I' cam and drivability is fairly good still. But I do certainly plan on a convertor and gears soon. When Ryan from GPI was tuning it I had asked him for more of a natural random lope in the tune, rather than a constant brap brap brap.

Closed loop idle lope starts around the 1:30 mark. I need to get a nice rev video soon. I think I had the right side microphone covered a little.

Don’t get to caught up on stages they don’t mean very much. If you want the cam sound you can just get a ghost cam tune. 😂👍🏻. If you insist on a “stage one” tell you tuner you want it to chop hard, and he can use spark timing to make it more knarley than it is I’m pretty sure. If you get a custom cam that is smaller so you don’t need a stall and go with a lower LSA on the cam it will make it sound more cammed.
