Performance Mods Begin

Wow, it's been over a year since I added to this thread!

I haven't done a whole lot (purchasing my first home in January has cut into mod money) but thought it was time to update on what I have done/have in store.

For anyone who has followed this thread, you will notice that all of the mods I have posted to date have been cosmetic. Finally, its time to make a post on the performance mods I have made so far.

Thanks to my proximity to Norris Motorsports and the fact that my car was not modded, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to volunteer as the test mule for both the VMax ported throttle body and Black Ice-olator for the LLT engine. As a result I was given a discount on both of these parts.

My good luck continued when Apex Motorsports started their Mod Madness contest in conjunction with the NCAA Basketball tournament. My dad (who doesn't have a Camaro) won first prize the first of the two years they have put this on, and with the gift card prize given to me, I purchased a Vararam Intake system. This brings me up to date with my performance mods installed so far, and updated my engine bay from the top to the bottom picture.

For anyone wondering, it doesn't look that drastic because the Ice-olator and Ported TB are not visible with the engine cover on. The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that my fuse cover is now painted as well (because what is a post from me without another cosmetic mod).

Of course, I can't keep relying on good luck to upgrade my car. After doing some research and taking my limited budget into consideration, I ordered some stainless steel BBK long tube headers, which just arrived today!

I plan to pair this with the MRT V2 exhaust and the Magnaflow resonated X pipe. Unfortunately, this also means I will be waiting to install my headers until I have purchased both of those and have also saved up enough for the tune needed after installation.

The first, and probably most simple was adding decals of my car's name in the Transformer text to the cowl and dash trim.

Borrowing from one of the first glimpses of Bumblebee in the Transformer movies I added Aesthetic Creations' Autobot logo decal to the steering wheel.

I later decided that I wanted people to be able to see the Autobot emblem on each external side of the car, so I ordered a set of painted bowties from Gary's Custom.

I finally moved on to the engine bay. The stock engine cover just screams to be painted, and when I finally got around to it I replaced the bowtie center emblem as well.

Yet even with all of this, something was still missing. If my car has a Transformer theme shouldn't I know what it would look like if it could transform? So what can I do but take a photo of Bumblebee. . .

photshop it in my colors. . .

find an airbrush artitst who incorporates the head from the cartoon Bluestreak into his concept. . .

and have him paint me this incredible hoodliner!!

This is to date my favorite modification and definitely gets the most attention. A huge thanks to Corrado Mallia for the excellent work!

These mods have completed* my Transformer theme and given my car a one of a kind look that will never be duplicated!

(*--you never know what else may come along )

Performance Mods Continued

Almost a year after I first bought my headers I have now gotten them along with my exhaust installed! I have to admit I love the look.

As I stated in my last post, I paired the headers with the MRT V2 and Magnaflow resonated X-pipe. I chose this combo after listening to several of those posted in the V6 exhaust thread and I was not disappointed with the result. The sound is a huge improvement over stock, and from what I'm told will only get better as I put some miles on the new setup.

I had the install and tuning done by Mike Norris of Norris Motorsports. Apparently mine was the first V6 he has done a header install on. As for gains, I didn't increase my maximum horsepower or torque as much as I would have expected, but the car did gain around 20-25 rwhp in the 4300-6300 rpm range.

Been far too long since I've updated this thread. I finally added the Street Scene/Stillen ground effects, the 3D Carbon front fender vents, and the ACS Composite lateral rear quarter ports to complete major exterior cosmetic mods. I've also added a few crhome pieces under the hood as well a the "Transformers Edition" wheel center caps (a Christmas gift).
