what do you get from a tune

I am curious on how much hp you get from a can tune and how much from a custom tune on a L99.

If you car is all Stock about the same 5-10 RWHP Truthfully everyone seems to advertise higher than that, it is all marketing.

Benefits of a JRE Custom Tune
Reduced Torque management
Quicker shifts
Firmer shifts
Raised Rev limiter
Raised speed limiter
NO AFM
Optimized timing and Fueling
Quicker Throttle response
Better fuel economy has been reported

If you have Bolt ons adjustment are made accordingly.

Purchase the SCT X3 Hand Held tuner from me and the first tune for simple bolt ons is free.

Ted.

I personally chose to leave afm active in 5th and 6th on my car to help maintain highway mileage. You will not gain any mileage by deleting afm, it's there for a reason. There are minor gains up top as mentioned but under the curve power really gets a shot in the arm.

From what I understand about tuning a l99. I think your right about leaving that afm in, remove the 87 octain table and defiantly tune the trans. I just not sure if I want to flick my warranty away yet.

I Believe AFM can be Helpful on Long Trips on Flat Ground but around here it is more an Annoyance and serves no help in mileage as it can't stay engaged long enough to do anything.

Plus is sounds like ASS

I have no Problem leaving it on just mention it in the tune request.

I altered my engage and disengage afm tables to allow a larger window to stay on. Also increased the tps setting to allow it to run at a slightly higher throttle it did sound horrid in the lower gears but it is not noticeable to me in 5 and 6 even with the headers.

If you delete or reduce the torque management, it really gives you a swift kick in the ass when you floor it from a dead. Not so much without the tune.

Ted pretty much covered it and I am not going to try to take anything away from him as I have never heard anything bad come from his shop BUT...

I am against the "hand held" email tune. I think if youre going to start messting around with your car, it should be CUSTOM to your car, done on a dyno in real time. None of this email back and forth, adjust this... change that.... this is wrong... so on.

I have the luxury of having a damn good LS engine tuner right close so thats what I do. We also have a 2007 s/c Mustang GT that was initially dyno tuned but updates are done via a hand held form minor mods (last was axel back exhaust) so the hand held is not totally useless.

If I were you, I'd start off with a custom tune, lose the AFM unless you do a ton of highway driving, get the trans tuned and then go from there.

On the L99 the "typical" output at the tires is in the 310-320 rwhp range. The tune will bump it a hair but its the throttle responce and how the car "runs" that really changes with the tune.

I had my car tuned 2 years ago and never looked back! I am at almost 30,000 miles and runs great!

I wasn't aware the L99 had torque management... I thught that was an LS3 thing but like I said, I don't really know. Never looked into an L99 too hard since I have the LS3.

Yeah the l99 has a lot of tm, a ton more than the ls3. Tm on the l99 drops crazy timing on the shifts and makes tip in feel horrible.

oh... cool, thanks. I have mine basically tuned out and man its different. I drove an L99 once... seems like a dog but I hear they respond very well to mods and tuning. I guessing driving a decently modded LS3 then a stock L99 was my problem. I'd like to test out a car modified just like mine only an L99... but its a world of difference!
